So what happens if you don't have one? don't NZ post just refuse to deliver the mail? It's not like you will be arrested by a bloke on a postie bike and charged with "failing to provide a numbered rubbish receptacle"

They will not redirect all mail for free to a PO box like they would if it is an industrial lot. I pay for mail redirection, but they will only redirect names I specify on the form, and I have used so many stupid names over the years that some still gets left in the mailbox. Missed on some countdown vouchers because I forgot to put colonal sanders on the redirection form. Oops.

Apparantly I have to accept snailmail delivered to the street address listed with the companies office, which they force me to have, and they will not let you not specify that so I have to have something to get mail sent to the street address. Most of the crap that comes here is just crap but occasionally something vaguely important gets sent to places that do not understand what a postal address is for.

Oh no! How are you going to be address verified on TradeMe if you don't have a letter box? tongue-out

Well last time I checked, it still wasn't possible to remove my nonexistent-for-eight-years landline phone number from my profile...

Put something fake, same as I do for the phone number that they insist on me providing.

Letter boxes

Apparently I am legally required to provide one at a house too. Thing only gets crap for other people, things from real estate agents that cant read and want to leave letters saying they have a fake "young couple" that would love to buy my house, and stupid free newspapers from dead tree media that I guess printed too many so try to get rid of them for free in peoples mailboxes.

I was going to take it down, since that would make my place unable to get mail like a factory or similar which would hopefully mean the redirect to the PO box would be free, but no, doesnt work like that. Thanks NZ post.

New Zealand Post itself annoys me. Latest effort: Saturday, the coldest wettest day of the year. The rocket scientist of a postie manages to shove the plastic wrapped mail safely inside the box, snug and dry. S/he then inserts the cardboard/paper wrapped items and (presumably) stands on them they are wedged in so tightly. But then for the grand finale, leaves the cardboard wrapped Book Depository package (containing, oh, I dunno, books) poking out of the slot. Not only are the Book Depository package and books inside completely soaked, but it has also wicked water into the letter box damaging everything else.

R-tard.

FYI A street address is required for the ’registered office' (where company records are kept) and 'address for service' (for serving legal documents) sections on the companies register, however this can be the address of your accountant or lawyer etc. but does not preclude you from claiming business expenses (rates etc.) from the office where you actually conduct the work.

All general correspondence can be sent to a PO box.

I just wanted to put a post with our number so deliveries from couriers etc can be made. All we get is junk in the mail box and the junk mail delivery folk cannot seem to work out that the box is full and not to put any more in it. Some weeks an cannot get down

to the bottom of the drive for a few days and I will get there and the junk is spewing out over the ground.

One time our box was stolen(lord knows why it was a battered old metal piece of crap) and it was a few days before I realised and the postie came to our door to complain and told me we were required to have one, I couldn't be bothered debating with him.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Agreed, but most are such blatantly obvious click bait that you'd be silly to click on them.

I Notice That Many Of Them Capitalise The First Letter Of Each Word In Their Stupid Headlines.

Automatic lights have been around for ages - I remember a friend having them in a Mitsubishi Sigma (GSR?) in the late 1980s - so why doesn't every car have them by now?

I find that my automatic lights don't come on until it's a little bit too dark for my liking. I.e. everyone seems to have their lights on but mine haven't kicked in yet. As a result I tend to go manual.

Some cars (eg ours) have a sensitivity setting where you can get the auto lights to come on early/med/late.

If my car has that it will be hidden in the infernal Japanese speaking computer... why does it mock me so?

I don't mind having a letter box. I keep anything that's printed on news print and give it to the SPCA so the kitties there have something to poop on.

I'm using The Press newspaper for something similar. AA have had a promotion for the last few years that has allowed me to get 8 weeks of the Press for free. Conveniently this has happened over winter when I need paper to light the fire with. Following the end of the promotion, they've offered a cheap subscription so I build up a stock pile for the next winter.

This is the third year I've done this.

To keep this on topic (slightly), the quality of journalism in this country annoys me (although I don't think that quite fits the definition of small).

The clickbait though is something that even NZ Herald and Stuff are doing now.

But this has been going on for years. The obvious question is how do they continue to survive?

Because people keep taking the bait.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

That's why it is called bait. The fish haven't got any smarter. Neither have the clickers.
