Handsomedan:

The local junk ($2ish) shop that we have frequented for many years...

Youngest son bought  a USB desk fan from them for $10. It wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few seconds.

I took it back the next day and asked for remedy (politely asked for refund or replacement). He said he didn't have any of those left. I asked for my money back.

He refused on the grounds that I didn't have the original packaging. I stated that it was pretty unusual for a kid to keep packaging from a cheap thing they bought and it wasn't a requirement under any law or regulation that I was aware of. Please refund my money.

He again refused, stating that KMart or The Warehouse would require the original packaging and that I was having a laugh. But then he offered a great deal on a more expensive (but basically the same) item. I said, no thanks, I am not paying extra for something that I don't want. Please give me a refund.

Again I was refused said refund, then it got quite heated (he started shouting, I started speaking loudly enough that customers started walking out) and he essentially told me never to come back to his store again. Off to the local Facebook page I trotted and gave my 2c worth. It would appear he's developed a reputation for this kind of thing lately. CGA doesn't apply to him and anyone that doesn't like the way he runs his business is welcome to go elsewhere, apparently.

Shame - used to be a good little shop run by locals who seemed to have just the right junk at the right price.

Went to Warehouse, bought a far better USB desk fan for $5.00.

Sounds like a successful way to run your business. Into the ground!

May want to find shop on Google maps, and review.

Many are getting away from Facebook.

Geektastic:

People who pronounce Anthony as if the “th” is like the one at the beginning of “thong” instead of like a hard “t” sound.

Or Adrienne as if it was “Adrian”, which it isn’t.

I prefer to ask the person how they pronounce their name rather than making an assumption based on what I think is right.

Our son has an old Dutch name. In Europe pretty much everyone asked how to pronounce it the first time they saw it. Most in Europe already knew, in the UK it was different but they still asked first.

We've been back in NZ for 16 years now and only twice has someone asked. Everyone else just assumes it based on the spelling and get it horribly wrong.

I find it quite rude to be honest.

A client of mine was subject to a huge amount of email spoofing a few months ago. It's started again this week and they are now inundated with phone calls from people who see "Company Name" <asd2321@gtfedd.de> and call them to say they've been hacked.

Even though "Company Name" is misspelt, the email address is clearly rubbish, the content just says "open this attachment" and their email client logged it as spam they still insist we sent it.

The number of them who say they tried to open the attachment is staggering.

Haha, if only.

His name only has four letters and if you pronounce it how it's spelt you surely think to yourself "hold on a minute, that can't be right".

When you know there is a courier/parcel delivery coming but you also need to go out, so leave a big note on the front door stating if there is no Authority to Leave then please leave parcel at neighbours; as I know they are home.

Come home and find a note under doormat stating parcel for us and to arrange re-delivery (on next business day) or collection from local NZ Post Delivery Branch.

For some reason our Ring doorbell camera only shows motion detection of courier driver leaving the note under the doormat. Doesn't show him or detect motion of him coming to door with parcel and no notification/evidence he rang doorbell.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

Same here. Again! It's been like a couple of hundred consecutive years! I blame the government.

Surely you predicted the obvious difficulty?

It reminds me of that Monty Python sketch. “ Yes, it’s spelled “ Luxury Yacht” but it’s pronounced ...”
