Totally unacceptable IMO. Management wouldn’t allow an adult to do that - so why should a kid be allowed to ruin others’ experience?

Exactly. If an adult behaved that way they'd be asked to leave, ticket or not.

I find it irritating how the NZ Herald quotes peoples’ tweets in detail  - then shows a screenshot of each tweet as if to prove that their quote is correct. Don’t do that - we don’t need it - do one or the other - not both. Especially when it’s D Trump and his family.

The quotes are needed because a Twitter account can be removed, the tweet may be deleted, the reader might have a script blocker that won't let the tweet show or simply block social networks.

But surely if they’re publishing a screenshot, it will remain even if the tweet is removed. They’re not posting a link.

I think you’ll find the “screenshots” are the actual Twitter posts inserted in-line into the article.

I find it annoying too as it makes for weird reading but understand it.

As above, they don't paste screenshots - like here on Geekzone they add the Twitter script to load the tweet embedded on the page. Screenshots take too much time.

You would think so but a lot of what they do is about filling the column inches available.

A lot of stories are summed up in the headline, again in the first paragraph and then expanded.

TV's the same with the person in the studio reporting something and then they cut to a reporter standing in front of the place where something happened hours earlier (usually now closed or in the dark) who starts with 'that's right' then repeats the whole thing and adds a tiny bit of extra information.

Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

I don’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill but on my iPad if I long-press the Twitter ‘picture’ it gives me an option (among others) to save it in Photos. If I share it to myself, it seems to come in as a photo. I don’t have a Twitter account. But quite happy to be proved wrong.

Not sure what’s going on with our local bird life but I’m concerned about it. We have floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors/windows all down one side of our house, one storey up. Yesterday a blackbird or thrush flew full tilt into the glass. Today two more of them did the same thing half an hour apart. Not sure about the first two, but the third one died on the ground. I guess they’re getting confused by reflections.

These are the ones we know about, when we’ve been in the room. It has happened on rare occasions in the past but three within 18 hours is not good.

Speaking with a customer over a landline to later find them appearing as a facebook suggestion.  Yes I have facebook on my work iPhone but all the privacy options are turned off.

Ideally do neither. Twitter isn’t news.

The privacy options aren’t real. They’re just to make you feel better.
