There's a whole industry of content farming around "curiosity gap". Content farms are an abomination. They have those "See you favourite artists look old now. You won't believe #6" slideshows and the single paragraph under the photos read like something written by an idiot - for idiots.

Whilst this probably does bait people to the first click, surely that's wasted if they don't follow up with a click on an ad, and then buy the product? And are other people not like me... when I fall for it, I'm annoyed and just want to get back out of there to wherever I was before. I intentionally do not click any of the ads, because I just don't want to encourage this crap.

When the company you work for invests in and provides you with a reasonably specced laptop so you can be mobile and work remotely but there is 'no budget' for a second power adapter so you have to grovel around under your desk every time you're going to be working away from it for more than a few hours.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Agreed. If geekzone ran that kind of garbage I wouldn't continue my subscription.

Get a short extension lead so it can sit on top of your desk. Or if it has a brick with an ISO plug, just get another ISO cord... leave one cord permanently plugged in, with the end on top of the desk.

It is no different to having a live socket outlet at desk height, perfectly legal and safe

Safety is about common sense, not endless over the top regulations. The rules cited above are not excessive in theselves, except perhaps the first one, which has little in common with real-world practice, but they are focussed on outdoor use, which is a special case with all the opportunities for getting wet and making unintended earth connections. The people who make up these kinds of things are the same people who think making farmers wear helmets will somehow protect them from roll-overs, which is how nearly all of them get killed.

Having a properly protected power connector on your desktop hardly qualifies as a risk. Taking a shower or cooking a meal is far more hazardous.
