EDIT

fail....wont work with NZ credit card will need to get a us debit one :)

Tried an NZ debit card?  Rumours are that they often manage to slip by (I'd need to actually have to buy something to test it though Tongue Out)

Can't you buy from Amazon instead?

ahmad: So Prezoom seems *a lot* cheaper? Am I missing something? And is Prezoom the cheapest?

"The rule for Internet purchases is a deminimis of NZ$60. If the Customs Duty and GST yield an amount of NZ$60 or more, it?s collected by us (when you pay for your shipment) and remitted to New Zealand Customs. In these cases, we will also charge an NZ$90 High Value Customs Clearance charge. If it?s less, the goods are allowed to be imported to final consumers without Duty or GST."

They are cheaper but force you to pay GST up front whereas I don't think NZ Post does unless it is pinged at the border. I'm not 100% on that, I could be wrong.

The $90 high value fee is a little shock.

Its just to expensive. I can get things sent to a work supplier and then shipped here for way way less and its fedex so faster too.

You can't say it's "too expensive" when you have access to arrangements that aren't typical.

How does it compare to other similar services though? That are accessible to everyone.

Lack of consolidation of orders and the exceptionally high shipping prices don't help either.

If DX or an ebay seller can send me something from HK or mainland china that weighs a couple of kilos for under $20 it makes a joke out of the prices for the NZ post service.

Although I basically agree with what you're saying there Richard the nzpost offering seems to be a bit cheaper than a lot of the alternatives so that would make them even bigger jokes. For me when buying off Ebay I always try for a free international shipping supplier makes it even better.

This is whyI queried if those prices stated for youshop were actually cheap as most of my international purhases are bought this way free shipping. I've bought cellphones and also batteries this way and nearly all have shipped from places like Hong Kong or mainland China.

I do have my exmother in law and some of her kids living in the USA but never really asked them to ship anything for me as mostly things have been ought back on trips by other people. I suppose I've been a little lucky in that regard but I have always liked Neweggs prices and certainly need to upgrade a couple of things in my pc.

Has anyone had any orders delivered to the YouShop warehouse yet and been asked to make payment? We received notification of the parcel. So we went to the YouShop site and made the payment. However, there is no confirmation at the conclusion of that payment transaction that the payment was either successful or not. It has a screen that says "Confirm Purchase" and has the credit card information we entered. However, every time we go back to the site, it says that we need to make the payment again. We've made umpteen calls to NZ Post Live Chat and phone calls. No one there seems to know anything about their YouShop service nor could confirm if the payment has been registered. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

I received notification today that my package had arrived at the warehouse and was asked to pay $55 in shipping. I paid this by credit card, and now the package status is "ready to dispatch". So everything looking good so far.

Was there a specific on-screen confirmation after you entered your credit card details? Which screen did you go to to find that the status shows "despatched" ? Did the status changed immediately after the credit card details were entered?

Not a criticism but is there any reason you didn't use Prezoom which appears (on face value) to be cheaper?

Has *anyone* used Prezoom?

Is there something wrong with Prezoom that I'm just missing even though it's obvious to everyone else?
