Maybe they can do a Julian Assange with him, though I find any comparison of the two gentlemen rather offensive.

I am reasonably big on law and order, but overall, this situation with K.C felt from start to finish weird and out of sync. I guess they decided they were going to make an example out of him, and I guess, what he did was strictly speaking wrong, and should have been punished, however, the way it's been handled, I'd be embarrsed to have my name next to a prosecution.

I'd go so far to say, is anyone who tried to prosecute him, still employed/alive?

It certainly doesn't feel like it serves the public interest to continue, and again, feels like someone just hasn't raised the matter of continued prosecution to someone sensible for assessement.

I mean the guy has gotten married, divorced, married, had kids, bought and sold multiple properties... He hasn't really put a foot wrong since he got here otherwise the cops would be all over him...

I personally feel that NZ should tell the US to sod off.

It would require tearing up a treaty...  Also we used the AOS and other armed police to arrest the guy..

Why we let Mr Schmitz to reside here in the first place baffles me,

Maybe we could offer him back to the US if they call off the war/mess with Iran? 😂

New Zealand deserves him to be honest, much as I think he is a lying thief, he did go through all the residency checks and was approved ... highly likely cause he had money to bring in with him and NZ government eyes lit up and ignored all the sketchiness in his background.  Even the post arrest residency checks still said he qualified.

Even "Back in the day" a quick search would bought up lots of content of him competing in the Gumball rallies,  -  The speeding was just the tip of the iceberg...

Hands up who never made a youthful mistake. The man has moved on with his life, family etc., what’s to gain from throwing him in jail for a victimless act.

Not sure that's how I'd characterise this particular thing. It wasn't a mistake. It was a deliberate and sustained enterprise involving employees and management structures for which he profited heavily.
