Went to Chemist Warehouse carpark in Kilbirnie and was confronted by a super long list of conditions of using the 1 hour park in which I quickly scanned for an amount. The fine there is $85 for overstaying.

You mean the overstated damages on their speculative invoice. It's important to remember that it is not a fine. They don't have the power to fine you, or even to charge punitive amounts. Private entities are very restricted in what they can claim.

I am surprised they haven't resolved it yet. A complaint to the manager of the store or parent company should have gotten some results.

I am not surprised at the warning. The high rise next door they just completed construction of with what looks like offices/shops on ground floor and the apartments above have no car parks  - so i suspect the Chemist Warehouse are proactively sending a message these parks are for their shop only before they get flooded.

Mind you the removal of car parks in Bay road as part of Kilbirnie development didn't help other than to make space for beggars near the money machines.

Nothing from an email to one of their managers n Auckland and nothing from Wellington Manager who assured me she would do something and nothing yet from the notice senders.

Yay! Just checked my email and had an email back from the first email I sent to Spotlight Auckland. Short and sweet that the Parking Breach has been waived.

Pity it didn’t arrive before I paid $10 for signature required letter. This has made me super observant of free parking and the fine print on signs they put up.

Karma requires a decent donation to some good cause in lieu.

Glad to hear. Common sense for them to waive it.
