SJB:

That's exactly what I got for a few Amazon orders from the US. I always got a refund but as I mentioned earlier one of them was subsequently delivered so I got it for free.

You may be lucky too.

I'm not going to wait much longer though - if not here by the end of next week I'll chase up Amazon again and see what's going on.

Ordered a DeWalt power tool skin from Amazon last Thursday 1 Aug (over $200 cheaper than NZ). Dispatched by DPD and has arrived this morning 7 Aug.

Here's an interesting one.

One of my boys ordered some toys off Amazon (US) last month. Payment was taken etc, all good. After a few days of tracking it online, it showed as having reached California.
But then a message appeared saying it was "undeliverable" and it would be returned and he would get a refund?

Called Amazon and the person I spoke to was less than useless, she said it was on track to be delivered and couldn't tell me why it showed as undeliverable. The best she could do was to tell me "it's still on track for delivery in early August, let us know if you don't get it". The tracking number doesn't work on any site, and I have no idea where his parcel is now (nor have I received a refund).

He would really just like the parcel, not his money back.

For the record, this is what the tracking looks like on Amazon's website. I only noticed the entries after California this morning:

Should I just wait and see what happens?

I think its very important to screen grab the tracking info, given some parcels are like airline luggage and go walk-about, possibly never to be seen.

I found Amazon to be good, if you have to report a non-delivered item, 👉🏼if you have documentation, and if you get through to an actual staff member with authority.👈🏼
But a couple staff I initially dealt with seem like they were contractors who had no authority, and consider it their job to stonewall. Once it became evident I was determined, (two different expensive hard drives from two different manufacturerers sold by two different Amazons went missing, along with the DPD non-tracking and highly suspect claims NZ Customs was due which should have been impossible - and NZ Customs denied they had any record of the items entering the country) I got a problem-solver.

After kicking up a fuss and making a complaint, lately parcels have arrived OK.

But tracking by DPD as recorded on Amazon sucks, due to its inadequacy, making me very anxious that it won’t arrive.

Why don’t the logistics companies provide correct updated tracking data to Amazon, recorded on the Amazon account order.

The customer should not be left with useless tracking data.

I’m glad people are reporting their issues. This is hopefully a path to positive change to logistics tracking, and security of parcel delivery. (Though the problem with couriers not following instructions as to where to leave parcels seems widespread, and is liable to get worse if couriers in NZ are given the job of delivering the mail which posties used to deliver, as well).

Thanks for reminding me about this, I've heard absolutely 0 from Amazon, and the tracking information above is unchanged from last week. I'll be chasing them tomorrow asking what the hell is going on, and if they can't send his order, I'd like a full refund.

Okay, that was next to useless. Apparently it's being returned to Amazon, and I need to wait until August 11 and they'll come back to me.

Apparently this is all in the too-hard basket, so they're just going to refund me. Annoyingly, they made me fill out a form to request a refund, despite having all my information already.

Nothing but frustration all the way. I don't get it - Amazon used to be amazing for customer service, they've really dropped the ball now.

Not Amazon, but Aramex from Evo cycles in Lower Hutt to me, 15 mins away in Upper Hutt.

Firstly, they picked it up on Tuesday and took it all the way (tracked at 1 min 8 seconds) to their Lower Hutt depot where it remained for the whole of Wednesday.

Then they delivered it on Thursday.  Tracking says "signed by geoff".

Package clearly marked "Leave on back doorstep".

So of course it was left at the front door, visible to two main streets (corner section), directly under a sign on said door that says "Please use back door".

I have shown their driver where the back door is.

Yet he is either too stupid or too lazy to follow basic instructions.

I'm planning on lodging complaints with both Aramex and Evo today but I expect that nothing will come of either because they just don't care.

I get why companies use Aramex as it's cheaper for them, but why aren't we given the choice as consumers?  I'd rather pay a few dollars more to get a more reputable and reliable delivery than cheap out and have Aramex maybe deliver it at some undetermined point in the future.

If someone opportunistically decides to take the package, who is liable?  Neither Aramex nor Evo will take any responsibility for it.  Evo will say it was in the care of the courier.  The courier will say that I "signed for it on delivery" and therefore it's my problem.

How do we boycott companies that use Aramex since they rarely, if ever, say who they will use until we get the shipping info.

I said the same thing (although not as explicitly) on Wednesday in the Annoy thread, although in that case it was a choice between PBT or nothing. Some would say that both of those choices are the same, so I saved my money and went elsewhere.

You could always complain via live chat, sometimes you will throw you $10-30 as an apology but its not something to constantly abuse. Sometimes you can talk them into the fastest delivey option for free for the replacement order too.

I think the service sucks too when I had the same issue, I had to wait 3 weeks while it sat in California(never left the US according to the tracking) for a refund.

It's Evo's problem to resolve as they have the carrier contract with Aramex for delivery. Aramex should have an image of the delivery in most cases which might help clarify if it ever made it to your home. Let Evo deal with it for now.

Update - in the end they (for some bizarre reason) wanted to push the date out to the end of August to "wait for the item" to be returned to them.

Na-ah. I got a chargeback done on my card, gave my boy his money back, and he will get it from elsewhere. A total disappointing lack of any customer service whatsoever from Amazon.

Not related to an Amazon delivery, but concerns Aramex.

I placed an order at Briscoes online. I was disappointed when I got the tracking # and it was with Aramex. I have already had a delivery from Aramex "lost" and I also had an unpleasant experience when importing two hard drives from Amazon.

I got an email last Saturday to say that my parcel had been delivered.... but it hadn't, not to my house anyway. After getting some stock replies from Aramex, I decided to contact Briscoes. The lady at Briscoes was super helpful and took over the investigation.

She found that the parcel had been delivered to another address and after much to and froing, she was advised that the parcel was lost. She quickly arranged for a replacement to be sent out at no extra cost to me.

I did explain to her that I had had problems with Aramex before and she said that she would pass it on to the powers that be. I also told her that I would not be ordering anything else from Briscoes online if they were going to use Aramex as their courier.

NZ Post is my go to courier service. My courier always brings my parcels to my front door and waits for me to answer so that he can hand the parcel to me. Aramex just try and stuff it into my mail box.
