A bit of a tangential post

I remembered an old kids show from the 1960's called the "Three Stooges."

Anyhow I was curious about the theme song which I discovered is "Listen to the Mockingbird."

It was extremely popular up to the 1960's, originating as a Civil War campfire song, and was even popular with President Abraham Lincoln.

Despite it's morbid lyrics, it was popular as a lively, happy sing-a-long song. "Barney the Dinosaur" and even "Fred Flinstone" did sanitized versions.

I'm dreaming now of Hallie, sweet Hallie, sweet Hallie
I'm dreaming now of Hallie, for the thought of her is one that never dies
She's sleeping in the valley, the valley, the valley
She's sleeping in the valley, and the mockingbird singing where she lies

Listen to the mockingbird, listen to the mockingbird
The mockingbird is singing o'er her grave
Listen to the mockingbird, listen to the mockingbird
Still singing where the weeping willows wave

Ah well I yet can remember, I remember, I remember
Ah well I yet can remember, when we gathered in the cotton side by side
'Twas in the mild mid-September, in September, in September
'Twas in the mild mid-September, and the mockingbird was singing far and wide

* Refrain

When charms of spring are awaken, are awaken, are awaken
When charms of spring are awaken and the mockingbird is singing on the bough
I feel like one so forsaken, so forsaken, so forsaken
I feel like one so forsaken, since my Hallie is no longer with me now

Food Theory: Did Burger King JUST Break The Law?

The Food Theorists

"Burger King just made a major move in the Twitch space - a potentially ILLEGAL move!

Loyal Theorists, were you one of the lucky viewers to see Burger King hop onto your favorite Twitch stream and use the text to speech message to advertise their food?

Well, they DID and many of those Twitch streamers are NOT happy!

You see, Burger King used them as cheap advertising rather than actually sponsoring them, which potentially cheats them out of money.
So, was this sneaky tactic a genius move by Burger King to sell their Whopper or did they just break the law?"

A little bit of insight into the substantial increase in youtube advertising recently. It's not content producers doing it.

Honest Australien Government Ad | The Recession

thejuicemedia

The Australien Government has made an ad about the recession, its cuts to Jobseeker/Jobkeeper, tax cuts for the rich, cuts to the Environment Act; and the 'Gas-led Recovery' - and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

A Bit long winded but still a good bit of story telling on the fly.

From the epic Kennedy Centre Nominees show of 2012, the nominees being David Letterman & a long-defunct rock band known as Led Zeppelin.

Guests included Mr & Mrs B & M Obama, Quincy Jones, Billy Connolly & well, everybody who could possibly get a ticket.

Whole Lotta Love is a very Lenny Kravitz-style track, could easily have been an original of his. Check this out, including the then-POTUS singing along & Sideshow Bob on guitar.

You've never seen Stairway To Heaven covered like this (brings tears to Robert Plant's eyes):

(Jason Bonham is playing on his dad's drum kit.)

There's more available on YT, including Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl is a huge Zep fan), Kid Rock & others.

Me 8 minutes later: ..... Jaw on the floor at its sheer awesomeness.

You gotta give it to the director of that performance, the artist selections were inspired. I mean who'd have thought of using Heart as the core performers? They got that one so right. Throw in 50 or so choir singers & have Jason Bonham to anchor the performance, & give it real credibility (he took his late father's place for the one-off Led Zep reunion concert).

Led Zeppelin never had the opportunity to perform in such an environment, Anne & Nancy Wilson and all the others on stage there did a magnificent job. Stunning performance, damn I wish I was there.

Performing Led Zep hits in front of Led Zep - pressure much?
