People that are unable or unwilling to follow clearly communicated directions.

TWO FAMILIES that lied to the authorities, broke self-isolation and plunged NZ's largest city into another crippling lockdown which could be the end of some businesses and will definitely affect many people's mental health.

Selfish, arrogant and the actions of imbeciles.

Also - small-minded, small-town New Zealand blaming Auckland (and by extension, all Aucklanders) for the current crisis and alert level changes. Get over yourselves. We get it - it's "cool" to hate Auckland and Aucklanders. Like I said...small-minded.

kiwiharry: When you get booked for Zoom/Teams meeting commencing at 1600hrs and you join at 1558hrs only to find the participants already deep into the discussion even though 3 or 4 others yet to join.

Yes I do wait until actual start time has passed and then interrupt and ask for a recap of bits that several of us have missed.

You have Zoom meetings that start early? The usual scenario is late start and then some time to allow others to join.

That would annoy me as well.

And people who kept saying on Twitter "You shouldn't say this, you don't know their circumstance".

Well, first no one should be allowed to tell how you should feel about anything.

Second, yeah about that - how are the "circumstances" now?

The one yesterday certainly did

Not really for this thread. That's hardly a small thing when its screwed over the plans of somewhere around 2 million people. Its pretty fn big, and I hope that it gets them some punishment.

The small thing that annoys me is all the people that are saying "be kind" "you dont know why they did that" and other lame excuses.

To be fair, there's no "What's a massive thing that makes you so angry you could spontaneously combust?" thread...

Well, first no one should be allowed to tell how you should feel about anything.

There is far too much of that going on already. "Don't use this company because the founder is bad" - no, I will make my own decision on that.

"Dont watch that movie, that actor is bad" - Movie is good, STFU

"Dont listen to that band, the singer is bad" - Music is good, STFU.

"Dont be hard on those people" - yes, I will.

I am extending a big F U to this family and all associated with them and their coverup.

From everything I have seen and heard about this, the anger towards the families, and especially, the 21 year-old moron, seems to be entirely justified. But news media and especially social media usually get some things wrong, and often get everything wrong. Before people grab their pitchforks and join the mob, they need to be damned sure of their facts. Flying off the handle with rage because of something you just saw on Twitter or Facebook is not a measured response.

I am no fan of Auckland, but you guys definitely deserve credit for what you are going through to keep the rest of the country safe. Having these massive disruptions suddenly forced upon you is a terrible situation to be in, and I genuinely feel for you.

No one can tell you how you feel, that is a personal thing however, that does not make a public witch hunt the right thing either. A witch hunt could well have the opposite to the intended result.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Appreciate that.

Now if you could just write that in capital letters on a public post on all social media channels, that would be great. 😉

Something a little smaller and less annoying: The 'guilt' banner that appears on Stuff, telling me that I've read 7 articles this week and should consider paying. This is despite it being my first article of the week (or second if you count from Sunday).

The anti Auckland thing is an interesting sentiment. I have spent about half my life in Auckland now, but it's very pronounced down South. Not in an unpleasant way, but it's there. I was away last week for work and asked a hotel manager about the three day lock down we just had, their booked occupancy went from 100% to 10% overnight for that week, it's just a sledgehammer. I don't know how many are in Auckland now, but it's a big part of NZ now. Whether that's a good or bad thing I don't know. But I get tired of the house talk, just move away etc. Yes I could move but it would mean a substantial pay cut, if I could find a job.

It also makes a big assumption that you've actually read the article.  There's a good chance i clicked on a somewhat interesting headline, read the first sentence or two and backed out.

After the Christchurch Quakes, we were back to OneNZ. I am from Christchurch, and was probably guilty of being Anti Auckland, but I have now lived in AKL for more time than I was in CHCH. CHCH will always be home.

I can see the NI v SI thing is back now, which is a shame. It's a pity we can't just stick with the OneNZ thing post quakes, it was a much nicer country like that.
