Cats interpret staring as you watching some kind of prey. They'll keenly join in to see what the fuss is.

Dogs interpret it as weird or unhealthy or concerning and will paw you to stop.

Being proud of myself and just ordering my partner a new phone from a shop locally (in Auckland) on Wednesday. I'm prone to going down rabbit holes when it comes to choosing Android phones. However called them yesterday as I thought there would have been some kind of delivery confirmation email fairly shortly after.

Oh, phone isn't in stock, it's expected Monday, probably delivered Wednesday. I'm away all next week so it won't be a surprise.

Essentially, he tweeted with racist overtones, it was taken down and now the media are taking it easy on him and explaining what he really meant.

If this were not a Maori politician, I believe the narrative would be slightly different...

Let's just call everyone out for racism. It's not OK and it's not healthy and we should all get over ourselves. We're all humans at the end of the day and we should start behaving like decent ones.

People who just don't reply to emails or texts. I'm a captain of an interclub tennis team and generally I'll send out an email on the Monday to ask for everyone's availability for the Saturday. Inevitably there will still be someone I'm chasing for an answer on Friday. How hard is it to just say yes or no in 5 days? It's fine if you can't play but just let me know earlier because Friday night is a bit late to try and find someone else available for 8.30am Saturday.

I ran a football team for a couple of years and experienced the exact same issues...so frustrating.

That leads to another annoyance, pennants golf, which is just interclub. You have a team manager who makes the decisions, and you get players who play the bulk of the matches during the season on the not-so-fun courses, then the guns from the more senior teams become 'available' for finals on the nice courses when their team gets knocked out early. So the loyal players miss the finals.

Ah yeah, ring ins from higher levels are always annoying. Tennis does a reasonable job of trying to prevent that - once you have played 2 ties in a grade you are not allowed to play in a lower one for the rest of the season, and you need to have played 2 ties for a team to be allowed to play the final. It still happens though, it's just up to the opposition to realise and complain about it.

Racism is racism and should never be tolerated.

In some defence of Rawiri Waititi the requirement to wear ties in parliament or anywhere is archaic and I feel he is correct on that. His choice of word association and racial slur was wrong and should be called out strongly

Or say yes on Monday then no on Friday. It's the same people having a whinge if they don't get a game on Saturday.
