Shock: Excellent ! I have tickets for Wednesday night with a group of mates so this is what I want to hear!

It did a very good job of not being overtly 'Alien' and yet there are clear links. It opens up all sorts of other questions though so be prepared for some post movie discussions.

A few things weren't awesome. I was underwhelmed with the score. The trailer was far better. The pace at times is so fast you have to really pay attention or you'll miss very important stuff. There are a ton of plot lines running which leave plot points hanging for a while. I wonder if a Directors Cut / Extended version might alleviate some of this?

In any case, go watch it, it's great entertainment.

Been a little spoilt this week... 2 movies :)

MiB 3 - 5/10 - same jokes, same story as every other 3rd sequel franchise out there....SFX great.
Dark Shadows - 7/10 - enjoyable vampire story but nothing over the top.

Prometheus - 7/10

Controversial movie amongst my group of friends! Ridley Scott has been saying for a while it's not a true prequel to Aliens and he means it. Think of it as a starting point with many possible routes, the Alien series of movies being one route. It is still a good sci-fi movie and there is so much to talk about after. I don't want to spoill it for those who are yet to see it but if I can recommend anything, watch the viral vids before going and don't go in with preconceived ideas as to what it should be.

Also a visually stunning movie. Proper 3D (not post production) made this movie excellent to become immersed in. You forget you are watching it in 3D.

Disrespective - agree on the plot lines. Not enough time to explore them all in the time frame and certainly could have its own trilogy following the 'other' story.

Promethus 3D, 6.5 seemed like it was very disjointed in places, scenery was very very pretty, 3d was very good in at least some places.

I just didn't see the point of the movie. Not enough explained etc.

I give Prometheus 3D a solid 8/10. It's not meant to be a prequel. On its own, it's quite entertaining. 3D was non-intrusive, and really added to the immersion.

Yah even without considering a prequel I found the whole thing nowhere near it's hype. Just moved too quick with no proper linking between some scenes, not enough explanation and background, it could have been an epic movie. Instead it just felt like a nice looking horror movie attempt.

I give Prometheus a solid 7/10. It's one that has to be seen in 3D on the big screen to appreciate the cinematography. I also liked it wasn't chock full of CGI, but good old SFX stuff, makes it a lot more realistic.

Marked down as lacking a bit of character development for me, apart from the 2 lead roles I just didn't get the other characters at all.

Watched Prometheus last night and had a bad seat so can't really comment on the 3D side of things the movie itself was alright I think maybe a little overhyped (but then again these days it's hard to find one that's not) had some nice scenery but I agree with one of the earlier comments not a lot of character development going on and I think the 7 out of 10 this seems to be getting a lot of is quite right.

Worth watching but I don't know if I'd watch again anywhere other than at home.

Holy Flying Circus 8/10

A 'dramatization' comedy based on events and personalities surrounding the release of monty pythons 'life of brian'.

The pythons have described it as horribly inaccurate, but despite and because of that, it works fairly well in an absurd surrealist kind of way.

I found it wholly entertaining, if a little overdramatized, but I guess that was what Monty Python was known for wasn't it? I think it would be about 6/10 however.

I have also seen 'My Architect' which is about the architect Louis Kahn. Quite interesting from an architectural point of view inasmuch a sad story of the lack of relationship between a father and his son. 6.5/10 for architecture, and maybe 7/10 for the documentary.

Lastly, 'Eames - The Architect and the Painter' was fun for a behind the scenes look at how Ray and Charles Eames operated and their thought processes for some of the most iconic furniture in modern times. 7/10

Prometheus 7/10

A worthy prequel to the first movie on the same scale and better than the rest. The introduction of the expected type aliens didn't have any real surprises, but other than that plenty of good plot points and interest (mainly in the first half). Yes, some of them are unexplained.

Safe House - Good action/thriller, unfortunately as with a lot of thriller movies these days, they cast the same people in the same roles which lets down the suspense when you find out who the mastermind behind everything is...need some new no-name actors out there to play the bad guys ;)
7.5/10
