Eva888: What a pain. Is she actually sick or a close contact? I guess it affects the whole family and you all will need to isolate. This too will pass.
She's a close contact - 1 kid in her class is positive and another has symptoms. We don't need to isolate and it's about a month after our first vaccination so relatively low risk.
This is her second time this year, the older kid has been a close contact once and the younger one twice. It's a pain more than anything else.
That two outlets in NZ reporting on the same Lotto draw can record such wildly different stories about the winner:
One, from Sunday, saying the winner had made contact Sunday afternoon:
"A Lotto NZ spokesperson confirmed a person had come forward on Sunday afternoon claiming to be the winner, but they would not have any further details until tomorrow."
And the other, published about an hour and a bit after the draw on the Saturday, with a supposed comment from the actual winner:
"A Waikato man is looking forward to making memories with his family after winning $8.2 million in Saturday's Lotto draw.
The player won Powerball First Division after buying the winning ticket at Paper Plus, Matamata."
Well, which is it? Was there a comment from the winner through Lotto NZ immediately after the draw, or was it not until Sunday afternoon? If so, how was there a comment about someone making contact 'Sunday afternoon' when it was published at 12:39 in the afternoon on Sunday? Is there something really obvious I'm missing here that would cause two wildly different accounts of the same basic Lotto draw.
Rehashing a topic that's been done to death in this thread, but the people asking inane questions on Trademe auctions often don't seem to be the ones bidding, let alone actually buying.
Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?
The people that want to 'cancel' various movies etc. aren't the people paying for tickets either!

Par for the course for news reporting. At least both accounts agree on the $8.2 million.
Data gathering on kids.
My Y9's college are going to an NZ Rugby rippa-rugby tournament. The entire year is going but obviously the vast majority will not take part.
NZR are insisting all children attending are required to fill in a form asking for the child details (including dob, gender, ethnicity and photo) as well as the parent/guardian's name, address, phone and email.
They claim it's to "general administration of the game of rugby" and "promotion of the game of rugby, including ticketing offers and other marketing of the game of rugby". But also include "will make your personal information available to service providers and other persons NZR considers appropriate".
I'm sorry, but no.
If we were signing up to play for the season it would be different. But this is a one-off event my daughter has no interest in whatsoever, other than cheering on her classmates.
Cost of parking at Milford Sound. If you want to go into the cafe that adjoins the Information Centre (or want to go into the IC itself for that matter) for a coffee - say 20-30 minutes - you have to pay $20 for five-hour minimum period.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Just wait for the story to be updated to : two 'lucky' winners disappointed to split top lotto prize.

Frustration with getting replacement parts. The headset connection cable for my PSVR died and I'm trying to buy a new one. Sony told me they don't sell parts directly and that I need to go through a retailer. Noel Leeming (who I bought the PSVR from originally) first told me via email that those cables are no longer available. I pointed out that they still sell the PSVR new and that the CGA requires reasonable supply of parts, and suddenly the cable became available again. I was told that all I had to do was go into my local NL and place a special order. Naturally my local NL has no idea how to do this, and so far multiple cases of back-and-forth haven't yielded any progress.
Bonus points (of the bad variety) to Sony for making a cable with a proprietary plug yet not making it easy to buy. Defies logic, really.
The observable universe is about 421,377,571,000,000 cubic light years and I still can't find enough space to store all my junk!

They used difference sources, and/or the information was obtained at different times when more was available. It's no big deal.
On a similar note, yesterday the weather was reported as cloudy and today it's reported as sunny. How can two outlets in NZ reporting on the weather record such wildly different stories about it?

He is now a she, and she came forward on Sunday.
Day 10 without a working dishwasher (and a week since the repair man took it away to fix).
