I haven't read the whole thread, but

The self Checkouts at New World, sometimes they are restricted to card only, I don't understand why when they do this, I still need to choose a payment type, why doesn't it automatically select card as the payment type????

There are other options available still even on the ones that dont take cash, you can split payment between cards and stuff so it has to show the menus to allow for that.

Yep, also the prompt after scanning the first item to check that you know it's card only. Then the long delay at the end before it asks if you want to print a receipt.

I can live with that one when considering the alternative:

Idiots will scan their trolley load of groceries on a card only machine, with a sign saying "card only" staring them in the face, then blame someone else (ie the self checkout staff) when they get to the payment part.

If you sit and watch for a few minutes when the supermarket is busy, despite adequate signage, plenty of people seem to get to that prompt before having "aha" moments.

After which it prints a receipt, regardless of what you chose.

underpinned by store staff who don't seem to give a **** about customer service these days (That sums up my local one anyway.)

This is NOT directed at you - I get what you're saying.

That the frequent rudeness and arrogant contempt I've seen directed at store staff by customers very many times has probably directly resulted in many staff having low expectations for and suspicions about the behaviour of humanity in general.  I can't blame them for that.

They're doing thankless boring jobs in what seems to be an increasingly angry society.  Be kind. It's not hard.

Where does it do that?  Our ones just give you a single button that says EFTPOS/Credit

The fact I can't have my receipt uploaded to my onecard account for review if I wish it. I don't want paper, but I do want a receipt. Or at least email it to me!

C'mon people, it's 2021.

Check the app on your phone. They recently added that feature. I have receipts going back to 13 March.

Didn’t know about this. Just downloaded their app, logged-in and there’s our recent itemised receipts. Very cool, very handy.

This enthrals and delights me - but also thoroughly terrifies me.
