Occupied on Netflix a Norwegian drama, with subtitles. Russia invades Norway on behalf of ECU to secure oil production as a green Norway was going to stop North sea production. Needless to say things don't go to smoothly. Gets 7.7/10 on IMDB, I'd give it a 8. Two seasons

The Staircase - 13 episode documentary series on Netflix about the death of a woman who, her husband says, fell down the stairs in her house, and the trial (and aftermath) of her husband for her murder.

Absolutely fantastic and gripping stuff - we're up to episode nine, but we're ploughing through at the rate of a couple of episodes a night.

Most of the episodes are a number of years old, however three new episodes were commissioned when the series was purchased by Netflix (I think).

Agree - very good. The three final/additional episodes are already up and running on NF.

I reckon the song Michael Petersen chose for the final episode sums it up nicely.

Up to Ep 6 at the moment. Enjoying it but it's quite violent at times and with all the subtitle going on you have to watch and just can't listen.

Quite different from the movies.

Detectorists

A BBC comedy that is quite charming. About a couple of metal detector guys and their adventures.

Just finished Sharp Objects on SoHo.
Well acted, but completely different from what I expected. Was expecting a murder mystery and it ended up being a psychological thriller.
7/10. Would have scored higher if it was slightly faster paced. A great glimpse at small town America.

Really enjoyed it, as expected the terrorist plot was pretty far fetched, but with 8 episodes it gave plenty of time to actually show us the bad guys backgrounds.

Waiting for season 2 now for some Russian goodness.

Obviously adapted JR to modern days, seeing books are up to JR Jr now with only small JR appearances on the side.

Like the books, lots of "damn, we almost caught the bad guys" but doesn't feel as good as the book - books give you a lot to work through words creating the narrative, the environment and you imagine how things are playing up based on that - movies take you on a determined path. Reading seems a bit more enjoyable in this context.

The series is good. Not sure the main character has the right actor for the role.

Just finished S01 of Marcella (Lightbox) which I'll be generous and give 5/10.

Also S05 OITNB (Netflix) was one of the weaker series to be honest but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and would watch another series.

We're also watching Modern Family (Lightbox) from the start with our three kids. They love it and there has been quite a few LOL moments in each episode.

I'm waiting for all the Better Call Saul (Lightbox) episodes to arrive before starting that, so it will be Ozark (Netflix) S02 next for us.

Finished Jack Ryan. Was ok. I hope it improves. Was quite tense and some very scary concepts.

In the last ep, who was shot in the apartment with the silencer and why? (pm me so no spoilers).

Everything I watch comes from an RSS feed.. I can't really get more specific than that without risking a FUG violation lol
