It's obvious Prezoom is looking at this market. I was approached by their marketing manager a couple of weeks ago, and today got this in my inbox from a local PR company:
Prezoom, a unit of international air express company i-parcel, has launched its website in New Zealand, vastly opening the world of American shopping to New Zealand consumers.
Prezoom offers a free sign up and gives each customer a private address in the U.S. state of Delaware, where there are no American domestic sales taxes.
Consumers can shop at any American store, have their purchases delivered to their Prezoom address (and many American web merchants deliver free within the States), and have their parcels delivered to them for as little as NZ$19.50 for 500g with full tracking, compensation for lost parcels, Customs Duty and GST included (if applicable) and 24/7/365 customer service.
Imminently, Prezoom will open a receiving address in the United Kingdom so shoppers can source from British merchants as well, and special offers are in the works for specific products where variety and price exist in the States that is truly unique such as shoes, toys, etc.
Over 800 customers signed up in the first week and it's clear that there is real potential for the service to become an invaluable tool for Kiwis buying online.
