so how do you discourage people from having children they can't afford by increasing benefits, isn't that just condoning it and helping to fund poverty. Why would people try to find work if they get more by having kids and staying at home.

I find it hard to believe we still bring in workers from overseas when we have so many on the dole or unable to find work.

I don't think anyone begrudges those that are in need of a hand up but all too often the hand up is a hand out and taken as being a right.

Call me what you like but i'm sick of hearing that pouring money into benefits cures the problem even partially, subsequent governments pussy foot around the issue but the reality is that some hard decisions need to be made until then the problem will not only still be there but growing.

Don't increase benefits then, take the kids and let the state raise them. Point is the kids shouldn't suffer for the parents choices.

You've obviously never had the misfortune of dealing with CYPS (or whatever they're called these days).

Eh, no-one in this country does their job properly. Do you want to pay the parents to do a sh*t job, pay cyfs to do a sh*t job, or watch kids starve/watch crime sky rocket as people steal for food? Or do you want to force operations on poor/stupid people, and steralise them?

Or do you just want to pretend a happy fun time zone will magically appear out of gods rear end and none of these terrible options will have to happen?

The level of personal type criticism on this guy is totally unwarranted.

I reckon if you are happy to to talk about your personal circumstances with a reporter you get what you deserve.

Breeding should require a licence. Breeding without one should incur penalties.

It seems perfectly reasonable to me that prospective parents should demonstrate that they have the intellectual and financial capability required to do such an important job properly.

I read the linked article in the first post - there is nothing in there this guy is quoted as saying whatsoever deserving any of the comments made here or the path this thread has taken.

The completely un-politically correct solution would be:

All welfare payments for females conditional on having a Depo Provera Injection (contraception) every 12 weeks.

Same thing for the guys, if there is a viable male contraceptive injection.
