I wonder what would happen in the exact same case with a civilian ? or if the bow and arrow was swapped with say an Air Rifle ?.
KiwiNZ: I was just trying to show the other story with regards to our Police Force, what they deal with and that they are in harms way each day for you and for me.
I was just trying to balance the discussion and therefore on topic
Other than an active shooter scenario like the Auckland motorway thing most of the time its just the victim and the attacker.
KiwiNZ: The NZ Police are under manned and resources are seriously stretched. New Zealanders want instant response from the Police but are not prepared to pay for it.

Do you actually believe (even if we had the money) that that would be a sensible solution ?, instant response in my mind (for a life threatening or harm situation) is under 2 min. In fact harm situations can pan out in seconds.
At what point do you start empowering the public ? or are you proposing a police state ?.
