Rooted phone with all its attendant benefits versus not having to pull my credit card out of my pocket. Hmmmm, i think I'll stick with the rooted phone. And yes i know there are ways around it but I'm not sure how the secure elements involved in this operation check for a rooted phone.

Did you actually get a message preventing you using it due to being rooted? Or are you just guessing?

bazzer: So, is Semble worth getting sorted? I rang 2degrees and they suggested it would cost me $10 for a new SIM. Not too bad, but is it worth it?

They said it would be $10 but their POS system can't scan it yet. So my mirco sim was free.

Where from? Fingers crossed I'll get the same deal! :)

Hamilton store. They scanned it and the POS system didn't have it yet, so they were like you can just have it for free.

richms: Ffff, for spark I have to go to a store ages away to swap sims anyway.

I just took a 5 minute break and walked down to my closest participating Spark store (Willis St, WLG) but apparently they didn't get the SIMs in today. Curse these logistics, getting in the way of my early adoptability.

Hmm. How recent was this? They did have Semble Ready SIMs when I checked earlier today. I believe the staff member might have advised you in error unless they ran out of SIMs.

I was in the Willis St store less than an hour ago, so about 3:05pm...

Spark big disappoint. I was told st lukes and Sylvia park (and somewhere else) by glenfield. Queue in the spark shop so went to vodafone to swap my vodafone sim over.

Vodafone were quick and efficient. Ran into Paul Spain.

We both went over to spark after he was done at vodafone. First girl didn't know and had to ask. Second guy was vague and said they had none and he had stocktaked that morning and had no new Sims.

FFS way to cock up a launch spark.

Sounds like par for the course with Spark; I have never had a flawless provisioning experience with them. Fortunately everything seems to work once it's all set up.

I would have thought Multi Sim Swap meant no charge, but there you go

So Semble mobile payments work on any retailers which have contactless payment enabled. Is that right?

hazza87: I may as well get a SIM from 2degrees and find out, however i am not holding out too much hope since the snapper sim never worked on it.

Semble has similar requirements to Snapper/2degrees Touch2Pay,  SIM Alliance OpenMobile API installed by OEM and SWP. Hence no Nexus etc.

I wonder if it will work at Countdown terminals Lol!

Such bad timing to be getting my HTC One M7 fixed for a small crack. Could've been an early adopter of Semble! :-(

Not sure about the debit cards, but I used my BNZ MasterCard at Countdown recently. Seemed to work fine.
