blakamin: So Top Gear is dead.
Me and apparently 349,999,999 people will be disappointed.

There's certainly a few people in this thread I'm glad I'll never have to work with, because "THE RULES ARE BLACK & WHITE". Pull the stick out, you might enjoy life. :)
And if you "accidently" watch Top Gear, you're doing TV wrong. Mine has a remote. I never "accidently" watch anything. I change channels.

BTW, the rumour that James May said he wasn't renewing his contract was from a tweet from a twitter account @Mr_JamesMay. His real account is @MrJamesMay.

It won't be the same, no matter what happens now.

RIP Top Gear, I enjoyed your irreverent comedy immensely.

Unlike some people here, I have a sense of humour. Warped and more.

There's certainly a few people in this thread I'm glad I'll never have to work with. Workmate winding you up? Punch them out. All good fun. Be sure to throw in a cracker non PC joke to boot. Have a beer. She'll be right.

The 1970's miss you.

jonathan18:

I can see the finer points many of us have tried to express on this thread have been lost on you. To continue to portray those whose views don't line up with your own in such a simplistic and negative way suggests I too should be glad I don't work with "people like you"...Oops, too late - I work for a section of NZ government where I face this same quality of debate from "real men" (read unreconstructed MSPs) every day.

Ooooh, finer points lost on me! That must make me stupid!
I'm just a run-of-the-mill tradesman. Judge me all you want. I'm also covered in tattoos. Want to stereotype? Go hard.

I'm not here for a debate. I was stating my opinion like other people, some that aren't even interested in the topic.
The thread was about Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear. If you don't like him or it, why bother posting?
I never said that what JC did wasn't wrong. I just said I'm glad I don't have to work with people that can't see that the life isn't written in stone. Life isn't black and white and rule books, no matter how much some people want it to be.
I've lived a life, not all of it good. I have my sense of humour and enjoy it.

I don't get along with people that can't see a way think outside the box. That's just me, I can think logically or any other way that'll get the job done without cutting corners.

As for govt departments... Not even sure they're allowed to use the whole box to think in to start with. Glad I don't work in one. :)

Wow, well done. You think I'd punch a workmate?

No, we discuss and sometimes even yell at each other, but we always have it sorted. It's called "communication".
Some people don't need a rule book, we can act like adults, not children.

See previous post about the bit where I think what JC did was stupid. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy a TV show.

In fact, I don't think I ever said what JC did was right... Can you help me out and quote that bit?

No, I'm not suggesting you would punch a workmate and my comments were not directed at you personally. My intention was to have a crack at a common theme from many posters … JC was hard done by … it’s PC gone crazy … to agree with the sacking, you are automatically a JC hater who needs to pull the stick out … the victim should man up, not run to teacher etc etc etc

I love watching TG. The three presenters make the show what it is, so it's unlikely that they can be replaced. But in my view, JC left the BBC with no other option but to remove him. If anyone killed TG, it was JC alone.

A suitable ending considering he created the reboot.

Last nights episode was almost a classic.

1. Driving a Ferrari you couldn't afford even if you won Lotto
2. An entertaining news section
3. A humorous and vaguely interesting guest who could drive quickly
4. A joke article at the expense of Peugeot

It will be sorely missed by some.

If you don't enjoy seeing hypercars like the Ferrari being driven quickly any time you can you are not an enthusiast.

Almost as much as we miss them (despite being only 10 in 1977). Music was better too.

So now TV3 have finally secured the rights to Top Gear for goodness knows how many years, will they ask for a refund as the "article is not as described and in danger of failing prematurely".

I was going to try and link a youtube clip but it doesn't want to work at the moment. It would seem JC has already found new employment. Just Google "Jeremy Clarkson" "One Direction" and you will see both dilemmas have been solved! (Sorry I tried a couple of times to insert a link with no luck).

The sense of humour was certainly better!!

Imagine the horror on the faces of some of the contributors to this thread if they were to watch such comedy classics as Love Thy Neighbor or Till Death Us Do Part. It is a "PC gone mad" world in which we live, dominated by "Elf and Safety and Jam Jars that are too scared to have a Gollywog on them in case they offend the minority of the minority. I'm glad I lived in the 60's and 70's because people of that era had so much more ..... well, personality and humour. We could laugh at ourselves and laugh at the establishment and we never, ever felt that the world owed us anything.

Long live Clarkson, he represents a world in which we can still laugh at ourselves.

The stick was directed at people that don't watch or like the show, but jump in to complain about the humour on it. Like I said, "accidentally" watching it...  It's like "accidentally" getting drunk. Doesn't happen to an adult.

Totally agree, and unfortunately he'd been spiralling that particular drain for awhile (not made any easier by some UK "newspapers" that have wanted him gone and will use anything to get it done).
I say things in my lounge that would probably get me sacked too. :)

RIP Top Gear.
