It is your right under the CGA. Had the same with a TV through Samsung they couldnt repair (4 ish years old). Offered me a new model, but I didnt want it as had already replaced it. I said to them in an email that as per rights under the consumers guarantee act I want a refund and they did no questions asked.

This behaviour is not allowed under the CGA, while some may aceept it you do not have to.
