I haven't been back since it changed. I'm guessing from the thread it hasn't improved. What are people using for local news? I mainly use the BBC app on my tablet but other than I've no idea for local stuff.

I'm mostly using Stuff. At least the layout is familiar and not too busy.

RNZ, Newsroom and interest.co.nz.

I haven't bothered with Fairfax or NZME web sites or radio stations for years.

It is so bad, that I can't find anything on the site. Several times I have seen the same story on three tiles across the page...

Using the text only version now http://mobile.nzherald.co.nz/

+100000 internet points m.nzherald.co.nz is gone and I had given up hope

Although I notice my login never stays logged in on an apple safari browser.

Any time I feel the urge to comment I have to go through the full email sign in process, again, and again tick the box to remember me...

Good to see their report mentions resolving the missing (X)lose button on the menu bar. Not

As for news sources, hands up with social media whos seen these for the last ~48hrs that are now 'headlining news' in the primetime area at the top of the page shown to all kiwis.

The Herald's website is running a breaking news ticket at the moment, saying "At least three dead as dozens of firefighters battle a blaze in a Honolulu high-rise apartment." I thought I'd click on the link and see if it's as bad as they're making it out to be (you never know with the Herald) and I ended up with this:

The url it sends me to:

https://nzme.arcpublishing.com/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=11891072

The correct url:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=11891072

I don't understand how they can screw up so much. The forum rules forbid me from using my choice of words to describe how I feel about the Herald, so I'll just say they're fornicating simpletons. Is that allowed?

They are replacing an excellent locally designed and standards compliant site with something.. um.. else.. I'd expect a few hiccups.

It's probably been mentioned already but they seem to have taken the chance to remove comments on articles.

I realize this is a pain to service but many articles nowadays are nothing more than opinion blogs with little research and comments help to balance things. They can be quite insightful, especially in relation to the companies regional papers.

I lost all respect (that is what little respect I had left) for the Herald site a while back when they had a "news" article entitled "The evolution of Kim Kardashian's butt."

The search engine on the new site is a piece of crap. Try searching for something in "quotes" and it just doesn't work (it used to work really well).

The whole "will the menu bar retract or take up 1/3 of my screen this morning" is what finally ended my going back to the site...
