My current home/business server is an aged Compaq desktop. It was commissioned as an audio server and fills that role capably, but my NAS was so painfully slow via ethernet that I'm now hanging it directly off the Compaq via USB - it's a lot faster. The Compaq's key advantages are its size, small footprint and low power consumption. But it's not grunty enough for a lot of the other tasks I'd like to delegate to it. Nor is it even remotely capable of streaming video (as I said, it's a home/business server).
The HP Proliant might be just the beast. And the conference looks great - lucky you!
