kingdragonfly: The Los Angeles California police department used one of their bomb disposal trucks to give the media a show.
They put some confiscated illegal fireworks in the specially made armored giant sphere, and intentionally set it off, for a controlled detonation..
Things did not go according to plan. 17 hurt, 12 houses damaged, and massive lid found 400 meters away.
Lots of camera and drone footage.

One thing you can bet your life on from that situation, is someone is going to be sued, and lawyers are going to become richer.
I can't remember if the Beyond the Press channels has featured in this thread before, but it immediately came to mind after watching the above video. It has several crazy Finnish people doing ever more crazy things often involving large quantities of explosives. This recent video from them was probably their craziest ever. They tried to blow up a ridiculously OTT welded steel box that I was positive would contain any amount of explosive force, but boy was I wrong!

andrewNZ: PSA. Downed power lines are dangerous, stay well clear..
I'd bet you'd happily lean on the fence and watch this...
How did the power get to the fence? Did the cable contact it directly? Only it looked to be clear resting on that hedge. That was a proper make you jump moment when the fence flared and smoked along its length. So would that have been 110V to have that much current available?
When I was a lad (60 years ago) our road was flooded and my younger brothers and I went on a wee adventure wading through it. At the end of the road was a set of bollards (keep left sign). When my brother leaned on it, he got a shock and was thrown across the road. Luckily he was OK, but there was an adult there who gave my brother a telling off. At the time we thought it was for daring to get shocked, but thinking back it might have been for touching live equipment that was partly underwater. My brother was about eight at the time.
Thinking back, it's a wonder that any of us survived growing up. That same brother nearly rolled my dad's tractor once after trying a full lock turn at crazy speed. It came up on two wheels, and sort of hovered there, but my brother had half fallen off it. The tractor decided to fall back on its wheels rather than crush my brother, and he was pulled up with it as he still had hold of the steering wheel. Being a tractor, it had a hand throttle which was still on the flat out position, so he then took off back up the yard with the rest of picking our chins back off the floor. I can think of a lot more stories like that, but all five of us have made it to old age.
You know what is going to happen, and his buddy off camera even tells him what is going to happen, but by heck, when it happened, IT HAPPENED!
