Technofreak:

If you read all of that that article you will see there is wide spread opposition to the way the government is implementing SNA mapping. He's not "standing up for his right to sabotage the environment" he is standing up for his right to have a discussion about how his land might be impacted by SNA mapping. Rather than some faceless bureaucrat in Wellington who has never set foot on his farm making an abitrary decision that he must fence off a significant portion of his farm.

Oh BS.

Farmers deciding for themselves what's "worth protecting" has led to a massive environmental catastrophe in NZ, and saying that is not saying that "all farmers are bad". Stock should not be in wetlands.  Most farmers get that. He doesn't. End of story.

That we still don't have a fix for our Rav4 that is in a coma. There is still no progress in securing the parts to awaken our Rav4 from its coma. I wonder how long we should wait before we declare the vehicle deceased.

Change.org petitions posted to Facebook.  I don't know if it's user issues or the site itself, but there are zero visible details on the post other than a link saying "xx needs your help" but no indication of what for.

Given the need to then click through to find out, I don't bother and just keep scrolling.

Even the topic on the post would help their various causes.

Change.org petitions full stop, they hold ZERO weight in this country, you cant even transfer them into a proper petition. only "request that the House of Representatives note how many signatures were collected on another petition."

Private petitions also usually suffer from the problem that the question being asked is loaded and/or presenting mistruths about an issue.

ie  "Should a smack as part of good parental correction be a criminal offence in New Zealand?"

Result of petition = "so what?", the bill was passed almost unanimously.

However, I guess petitions like "Do Not Allow Bezos to Return from Space" serve some weird purpose.  At the moment about 160,000 signatures.  If Bezos liquidated his assets - he'd be able to give a million dollars to each of them.  He should do it for the lulz. Musk probably would - anything's possible.

I see he (Bezos) has donated quarter of a billion the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. Awesome!

Hope the cheque clears before blast off next week…

The frustrating process with trying to sell larger stuff online that needs to be picked up.

In defence of the buyers, it's really, really difficult for most people to arrange transport for anything that won't fit in the typical family car, you need to either borrow a van or ute from a friend or hire a truck to do the relocation with. You can probably considerably increase your chances of selling the stuff if you offer to drop off within an x km radius for $20 or something.

People who type their entire email in the subject line.

It happens a lot to me at work and causes people to not explain issues deeper that would otherwise be helpful.

I get a lot of X isn't working! subject lines with blank bodies where they could have explained the issue or put a screenshot in.

So I have to email back, ask for screenshots and for them to explain, and then have the boss ask why did was X person not working for X long today?

Ugh.

Yeah, that was a whole other level I decided not to let bother me because I don't get more involved in them than scrolling past the lack of useful info as mentioned.

I had a boss who got so many emails in a day that if he couldn’t tell what the email was about from the subject line, he deleted it without opening it. While not the same as putting the whole lot in the subject line, it made me ensure I used the subject line wisely. Similar to thread titles in GZ really.

Fair enough. I also don't have access to a large enough vehicle so am not able to deliver. But the frustration was more people arranging to come but then not turning up. A quick message that you can't make it because the person with the van pulled out, or you changed your mind or whatever would be appreciated rather than just not turn up when I've arranged to be home at the time.
