Dingbatt:

If my experience was anything to go by, if you look away you won’t even know the injection has taken place.

Haven't had the Covid jab yet but had my tetanus booster a few months back, used the same cunning trick of looking away, and despite being no fan of needles it barely registered, I assume the Covid jab will be similar. However I've also dealt with a needle-phobic family member so I can see the reaction they provoke in people and can understand where the OP is coming from, it's not necessarily something that advice from others can address. Are you allowed a support person to come along and hold your hand?

Just to add to the reassurances, I also didn't feel a thing with both jabs. Literally not a thing. The first time I waited a few moments, then looked to see if she was ready, and discovered she was already putting things away. Just close your eyes and think of England and it will be over before you know it.

I'm quite happy to watch jabs and blood tests being administered to myself but watching someone change out a drip in an already installed IV line and I was out like a light.

Will book tomorrow since that's when my age band opens up.

If you have a problem with needles the let the person administering the dose know - they should ask however. They have strategies to make it easier for you

It turned my dog shed upside down.

I hope the dogs are OK?

They were asleep on the sofa indoors! They only go out there when we aren't home during the day.

neb: My Covid shot: Tomorrow.
Most likely time to go to full lockdown: Tomorrow.

Do you have any tips for the 2.30 at Aintree?!

neb: I assume, since it's medical, that everything will be running as normal there,

And it's:

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced Covid vaccinations will be suspended for 48 hours due to a nationwide lockdown.

More annoyances: Had friends over for the usual Wednesday-night dinner, Thai from the local takeaway place which has a small superette next to it where we could watch the customers while waiting for our food to be prepared. It was awfully busy compared to every other time we've been there, including people obviously hoarding/stockpiling:

Number of people wearing masks: Zero.

Number of people scanning in: Zero.

It's no wonder we need to go straight to level 4...

Had a bit of a clean up last year and I got rid of a VGA cable that I'd hoarded for about 12 years. I never had the need to use it so out it went. It was brand new and unused.

Son got a new job few weeks ago and lo and behold his laptop only has VGA and mini display port and both monitors we have at home have VGA and display port and I only have DP cables.

No suitable cables for him to connect his laptop to allow him to work comfortably from home.

Rushed to The Warehouse before they closed as website indicated VGA cables in stock but staff member said they haven't stocked that cable for quite a few months now.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

Yep. Mine is booked for tomorrow too.

Me too; 2nd shot was supposed to happen 10 minutes ago (as I write this on the 18th).  I'm rebooked for next Wednesday - hopefully they'll have systems figured out by then, regardless of the local alert level (Wellington/Porirua)

Stu: Maybe we'll get a reminder for the second dose? I hope I remember the date and time correctly...

You should get an SMS the day before - I did.

First jab in April was non event, the second in May left me with bit of sore arm and I felt a bit viral overnight which didn't bother me as showed was reacting immunological.

No drama really.

Did a course on leadership and everything that goes with it recently.

When describing the least effective type of leader, my boss was described in detail (obviously not him, per se) and it annoys me that he's managed to get to a "leader of leaders" position.

It also annoys me that I have to report to him.

Time to move on...

Update on Menulog I posted about last week - they agreed to refund the order that was not delivered and said it would take "3-5 business days to be processed." So in good faith I patiently waited the 5 business days, which ended yesterday and still no refund so have now asked the bank about initiating a chargeback due to non delivery of goods and refusal to rectify from the provider.

Also relevant to the thread - we had a week long domestic holiday booked in May last year which was cancelled when we moved into lockdown. Had rearranged it for the first week of September this year which now looks like will end up cancelled again. Know it's not a major deal in the grand scheme of things but still annoying personally.
