The software in my sights today is Outlook.

If it's 3:00 now and the quiz is at 3:05, why is that in 7 minutes?

I was having email with the Private arm of a big bank in regard to a charitable  Trust I am Chairman of.

Bank: I can certainly help you with that. What time would it be convenient for me to call you?

Me: 2pm would be great.

Bank: Sorry, I can't do 2pm. I will call you after 3.30pm.

That despite having priority status due to medical issues, Countdown has neither delivery nor pick up slots available "for the next few days".

Stickers on items that don't peel off clean.  Arrrgh!!!!
Maybe this might have been mentioned in this thread but I just cant read through over 900 postings!

Also people asking for help on this forum and they disappear without a trace. Not even a courtesy post saying that the issue was resolved!

Impolite people posting here on GZ,  asking and getting impatient when people do not help them quick enough

Queuing upto the counter in a fastfood joint and then have a think as to what to order

Call centre operators reading from a script and ignoring your real urgency or problem

Overly chatty Uber or taxi  drivers who ask a barrage of questions, specially after you had a longhaul flight

  well the list goes on.......

It's not like we don't have the adhesive technology!

We bought a new Fisher and Paykel fridge recently. It had a couple of stickers on it that came off very easily - but the stupid energy star rating one probably took us a good 10 minutes to peel and slowly get off - even with the help of De-Solvit. Ahhhhhhh

Get a strip of paper towel to cover the sticker and soak it in cooking oil, then leave it on the sticker for some time, typically hours. That'll help release most stickers, if necessary repeat until any remaining gunk comes off. The magic ingredient is time, not necessarily elbow grease or chemical strength.

My Haier washing machine has 2 stickers with  various areas peeled and unpeeled .  and surprise surprise!  one of them is the energy star rating.

Does the cooking oil trick work on stickers that have a really high glossy plasticky surface.  never tried it.

I have a rule not to buy glassware from Briscoes as the price stickers are pretty much impossible to get off.

Nope. You have to peel the glossy layer off first (which just tears into a thousand tiny bits) and deal with the paper layer underneath with oil or something like De-Solv-It

The idea is to hit the papery and gummy residue that's left after you remove as much of the protective top layer as possible. That is, if it's a paper sticker then hit it directly, if it's plastic you can usually peel off the plasticky top layer leaving a papery/gummy residue, which you can soak with oil.

It's not a magic cureall but it's simple enough that it's worth trying, worked reasonably well the few times I've had to use it.
