JaseNZ:

What a bunch of absolute muppets.

Good grief there are more than 50 of these videos. Can't believe the stupidity of some of these drivers. No one seems to take any notice of the water depth indicator. They edge their way to the water then drive like maniacs through the ford creating a huge bow wave that then swamps the engine. Taking it real slow, or reversing through and they would probably be fine. And a total fail to those drivers who charge on through past another already swamped vehicle.

I wonder how many vehicles this ford kills in a year? BMWs seem over-represented and even a few dead Landrovers. A quick Google search suggests there is a 4 mile detour available that completely avoids the issue 🙄

I didn't know about the able-to-leap-buildings-in-a-single-bound "sandflea" robot

It also shows why the US has a high GDP for defense spending, but not the highest

AV web.com: FAA Investigating Controversial Crash Video (Updated)

The FAA has confirmed it’s investigating the circumstances of a video purporting to show the November crash of a 1940 Taylorcraft posted by YouTuber Trevor Jacob.

“The FAA is investigating this event,” the agency said in a statement issued Monday. “The agency does not discuss open investigations.”

The video prompted an explosive and generally harsh reaction from commenters on YouTube and on various forums.

Many are calling for an investigation into the production of the video; a few are calling it fake. And plenty have analyzed it frame by frame to support their accusations about its authenticity.

Note that Germany has income based fines, but the highest given, so far, is NZ $930. The speed 417 KPH is about 259 MPH

Translated from German, by Google Translate

Der Spiegel: Millionaire races over the A2 at 417 km/h – the police are investigating

The police have launched an investigation against a speeder on the A2. The background is a video from the Internet that shows a Bugatti Chiron roaring down the autobahn at 417 kilometers per hour. According to the police, he was at the state border between Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt. At the wheel sat the Czech multi-millionaire Radim Passer.

After many complaints over the weekend, the driver is now being investigated for an illegal street race, a police spokeswoman said. This will now be passed on to the public prosecutor for legal assessment. The police spokeswoman said the behavior was irresponsible.

The Federal Ministry of Transport had also expressed criticism. "Any behavior on the road that leads or can lead to a hazard to road users will be punished", a spokeswoman said.

AP News: Germany criticizes Czech tycoon’s 257 mph Autobahn ride

...Beneath the video, Passer wrote that the stunt was filmed last year on a 10-kilometer (6-mile) straight section with three lanes and “visibility along the whole stretch.”

...But the car can be seen passing several other vehicles on the highway and the light in the video suggests it was at twilight.

While much of Germany’s Autobahn network famously has no speed limit, the Transport Ministry said in a statement Wednesday that it “rejects any behavior in road traffic that leads or can lead to endangering road users.”
...
The ministry noted that the law also requires drivers to “only drive so fast that the vehicle is constantly under control.”

Passer, who according to Forbes is the Czech Republic’s 33rd-richest person with a wealth of [NZ $460 million], suggested beneath the video that he placed his faith in more than just his driving skills during the stunt.

“We thank God for the safety and good circumstances, as we were able to reach the speed of 414 km/h!” he wrote.

I've been meaning to share this since I first saw it.  The guy farms near Oxford (North Canterbury) and has interesting content, but the cool bit in this video is drone footage of a large flock of sheep driven out of a paddock.  They move like a murmuration of starlings and it very cool.  Go straight to @10:15 for the good bit.
