Some of you may remember my story from six months ago of a car parked on my front verge for an extended period. This culminated in severe damage to the grass after some heavy rain, and after I left a note expressing my displeasure, with an explicit "do not park here", she finally started parking on the street.

The grass has nearly recovered. Today I got home and the same car is back on the grass again. Enough is enough and I'll be building a little wall out of some large round 'decorative' stones. Fortunately for her I shall wait until the car is gone before beginning construction!

I'm sure you'll be pleased to know there's a heavy rain warning for us in the forecast for Saturday then...

Oh, hang on, when you actually read it, it say its for the ranges East of Opotiki, as in at least 50km away and the highest hourly for us is a whole 0.4mm. So warning for some rain 50 away, why, why, why.

Course, now that I've mentioned the 0.4mm bit it'll actually be 40.0mm...

I have to be careful what I say on here before an eagle-eyed rb99 goes prowling the street for new stone walls and figures out where I live! 😛

Damn, and I was planning to spend the weekend starting at Cape Reinga and working my way down checking each street for new stone walls and a patch of damaged grass.

If it's on your property can you not just get it towed?

If this was a couple of days ago then I'd make a comment about whether you could even see the sign with all the haze. However, it's cleared up a bit today! Whale Island is back in existence again.

Putting a wall up may make me a bit unpopular. Getting it towed will make me very unpopular.

The verge in most towns are owned by the council and maintained by you. I would suggest you talk to your council before doing anything. You may fall foul of the council and leave yourself liable should some be injured by the stones.

I really wish people would not spell 'pretty' with an 'i'. Not a biggie, but it stabs at my heart.

Where do you put an 'i' in pretty? Is it the same place it goes in 'team'?

I empathise with you but got roasted for pointing this out in a different thread.

Actually I think most people agreed with you. One post was written very much tongue in cheek.

Pritty sure it doesn't matter. For all intensive porpoises it's the same word. I could care less....

At first blush it looked like the poster was disagreeing with you but when that post was read closely he was IMO in agreement with you.  I think he was taking the p1ss at the various miss-spellings and misuse of various phrases we see all over the place.
