No it's so the affected stakeholders can understand the difference between an international travel document and a domestic one.

Why does there need to be a difference? Could the international one not have functioned domestically to save hassle?

Can't see why not. Both have been issued via the same means. Why we couldn't have made our domestic one the same standard as the international one beats me.

People with a medical exemption can get a "My Vaccine Pass" but not the "International Travel Vaccination Certificate".

Understood, but that doesn't explain why both passes cannot use the same standard. As it is is now you cannot scan the international pass on the verifier app. When international travellers start arriving in New Zealand it's the international pass that they will have.

That's a separate issue. I'm sure there will be enhancements to the scanner app to understand the different non-domestic passes, including:

  • United Kingdom National Health Service COVID Pass
  • European Union Digital COVID Certificate
  • Canadian COVID-19 proof of vaccination (which may or may not be different to SMART Health Card (SHC))
  • VDS-NC used by the International Civil Aviation Organization
  • Static vaccination certificate QR code on the COOV app

There is no international standard for vaccine passports. Tourists will have a pou pourri of different vaccine passports.

I would expect international travellers to have their vaccination status validated on (or before) arrival and be issued a NZ pass.

Apps with tiny scroll bars. For example, there's an online version of Word, and its scroll bars are half the width of the desktop version.

Equally frustrating are the apps with hidden scroll bars that only appear when you hover over them...

Particularly when the app in question is documented as respecting the OS settings, then gets an update that proceeds to ignore said settings. Word, I'm looking at you again.

The term of art for those is "escape-room UI", particularly popular for "modern" UI, where "modern" is loosely defined as "the stuff that needs a UI refresh every few months just as you've learned how to get out of the previous escape room".

That the half-life of loquat fruit is about 1 week.

On the tree, it's not quite ripe, then nearly ripe, then ripe.

Then, BAMM, attacked by birds that take one peck and ruin the fruit, or it rots.

Even in the fridge they barely last a week ..

Have to be so quick to pick at just the right time to get a super sweet succulent fruit.
And then have to discard the pips ....

But worth it ...

People queuing out the door at the vaccination centre. This is in the Annoys thread because it's typical behaviour: Only bother to sort it out once it personally affects you.

Zip with broken metal part at bottom. Quote to repair $110 at a shop. They replace whole zip, not just metal part.

Saw online at Hallensteins Brothers what looks like same Jumper $50 reduced to $20. Plus $6.95 delivery. $NZ

Will take this option, but seems a waste when we are suppose to be environment conscious.

Zips are horrible, period. One would think in the 21st century there would be a better system. Trying to do up zips one handed is a nightmare made harder when ones cervical spine (neck) is fused. A few zip emergencies, the details of which are too horrific to detail  have befallen me because of these hideous inventions.

Coming soon... new from Apple. iZip. Lists all your zippers in the HomeKit  App and allows you to raise and lower them using Bluetooth. Flying Low alerts sent direct to your Apple Watch. Never again realise you just did an entire presentation to new investors with your zip undone....
