Geektastic:

Coming soon... new from Apple. iZip. Lists all your zippers in the HomeKit  App and allows you to raise and lower them using Bluetooth. Flying Low alerts sent direct to your Apple Watch. Never again realise you just did an entire presentation to new investors with your zip undone....

I would pay for that.

Rumoured to be coming in v.2.

So, old gen zips are Brasstooth - next gen zips have Bluetooth. Cool.

Zip with broken metal part at bottom. Quote to repair $110 at a shop. They replace whole zip, not just metal part.

Have you tried one of clothing-alteration/repair places that many malls have, typically in a central island somewhere? They should be able to fix it for a helluva lot less than that.

Yep, I went to what use to be Mr Zip it or something in middle of mall, they don’t do it any more and pointed me to a side alteration place in Riccarton Mall. The metal guide is gone on right hand side of zip. I can force them together and do up zip, but if anything pulls from bottom of Jersey zip comes undone. I thought it would be possible to put on new guide or what ever it’s called, but they said need to replace whole zip.

Saw people taking in Jeans and that to them, maybe they are more reasonable priced at shortening leg length in Jeans etc.

I see K-Mart online has $6 hoodie types, may look at non zip option and then don’t have to worry about zip breaking in future. I’ll look in store as prefer to get goods direct then waiting on unknown delivery times, but maybe an online price only.

Pro Tip: Take a spare pair of pants with you - it easier for them fix the zip fly if you take them off first.

People queuing out the door at the vaccination centre. This is in the Annoys thread because it's typical behaviour: Only bother to sort it out once it personally affects you.

you do realise people can get boosters now and most of the traffic seems to be for them?

Weather forecast is for rain with >85% certainty between 2 timeframes, no rain, no sign of rain clouds, looks impossible to rain. Water lawn, 10 minutes later rain from clouds that must have arrived with cartoonish speed. Has happened at least 3 times in the past week and a bit as I have been tending my newly laid lawn.

DHL has leased some planes to help overseas deliveries, but the last mile delivery is the thing causing the delays. The couriers warehouses are overflowing and couriers are already unable to deliver what they have.

That Google make it impossible for businesses to change their phone number on their listing (months of trying), but an end-user can request a suggested change and it's updated in an hour or two.

Well, of course you can't tell who's 'special' at a glance, but given the ages of some of the people I'd wager that most of them were getting first/second.

Good grief. The rigmarole we had to go through when our office moved to a previously-vacant site. "That address doesn't exist; are you sure it's right?" / "Yes" / "Well, tough".

Not sure if I have put this here already, but HD/4k versions of music videos on youtube with the pillarboxing baked into the video, when the older SD or 720 version was a correct aspect ratio file.

Teams again... it's currently showing one of my own messages as unread. How can it be unread? Does it think I typed it with my eyes closed?!

Migraines.

Don't get them often (had a handful in my life), but this one has knocked me about this week.

I am getting a new prescription/glasses in the next couple of weeks (delays due to COVID) so that may be the root cause, but it's horrible.

I went to grab some fast food. There's a sign at the door saying "wait here", as they need to check the vaccine pass. When I approached the door something started beeping inside (presumably to signal that I was there) and after a minute or so nobody had bothered to come out and I felt like an idiot (even though there didn't appear to be any other customers around). I turned around and went to the competitor over the road and was served immediately!
