On another vein i dont think i'm a true geek took me three goes to finish tinker taylor soldier and didn't get it ... Had to google to find out the plot

I read the book(s)*, watched the BBC series and watched the Tinker, Tailor, Soldier move twice. Brilliant stuff.

* Read all books with George Smiley. It's not light reading and certainly the atmosphere from the 50s through 70s is quite different from now.

Watched Hanna last night. I really enjoyed it but if it is pretty dark.

Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett all turn in performances which are actually in line with their reputations. The other real star is the film's cinematographer, Alwin K?chler. Who gives it an amazing look and feel.

It is one of the most thoughtful action movies I have seen in ages. It is also a 'modern fairy tale' but all too plausible.

Really enjoyed it but know what you are getting yourself in for before you watch it.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

If you liked Hanna checkout Haywire.

Another low-key but extremely enjoyable action/thriller.

One of Steven Solderberg's best and makes up for dreck like Contagion and all those Oceans films.

"A Fantastic Fear of Everything" = 1/10 produced by and starring Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead)

From the box, The Yorker says "It's creepy, mysterious and utterly, utterly fascinating." It is completely fascinating, simply because it is a showcase of tricks and techniques that just don't work including the obligatory nods to Psycho.

Well I won't be taking his reviews seriously if he rates Haywire over Contagion. But that's the beauty of this thread, everyone has their own taste and opinion. Even if they're wrong :)

les mis hurt my ears and my eyes !
bad acting, horrid music, poor photography, amateur editing - YUK !!!
it would take more than wolverine + gladiator + cat woman to turn this turgid, melodramatic interpretation of hugo's classic into something watchable. this is to music what twilight is to horror.

didn't rate contagion as it didn't add anything to the disease of the week genre, it was full of stereotypical characters and cliched situations. someone else wrote it was cold an heartless and a great advert for hand sanitiser. would rather watch my vhs copy of the andromeda strain.

Well I have to agree I didn't think that Contagion was that great when I sw it and again it really didn't bring anything that innteresting to the horrible disease genre unless you want to count big name stars then it aced the market

One movie I watched over the weekend was The Impossible which is about the boxing day Tsunami. As I've watched a very good documetary on this not so long ago I found this movie to be very well done and quite accurate in regards to some of the peoples struggles during this tragic event. Obviously it wasn't good as the doco but in all honesty that thing was probably the saddest thing I've ever watched on a TV. I'd recommend this movie to anyone.

Agree, was a really heartbreaking movie. The children's acting in it was fantastic. I would give it a solid 4/5
