Hi, I will be flying to the UK at the end of this year. I will be flying from Manchester to Auckland.

I need to fly alone on the way back. I will be 16 when I do fly. I have checked the air nz website and it seems that, since there is 3 sectors, I am unable to fly air nz. I checked the Emirates website all I can see is that I am unable to fly as an unaccompanied minor.

So, am I correct about the air nz info, and does anyone know about Emirates (or any other airline for that matter)?

I will phone them next week but was wondering if anyone knee anything.

Manchester To Auckland is 3 sections?

You could fly; Heathrow -> LA -> Auckland and arrange your flight from Manchester -> Heathrow.

Steve's right. Air NZ don't service Manchester, but if you want to look at Air NZ you can buy a LHR-LAX-AKL ticket or LHR-HKG-AKL ticket, and simply buy a separate ticket for the MAN-LHR sector.

This is taken from the Emirates NZ site:

"Young Passengers are children from 12 years of age up to, but not including, their 16th birthday. Young Passengers are entitled to Unaccompanied Minors service if specifically requested by the parent or guardian."

Emirates fly from MAN via DXB so they are still an option for you as well.

The three sectors I was talking about was Manchester --> London ----> Hong Kong -----> Auckland.

So, if I used a domestic airline within the UK, to get to Heathrow. Then fly LHR to Auckland, bearing in mind I would be on my own from Manchester. I should mention that I am an experienced flyer and lived in the UK since 5 years ago, so I should be fine with the transitions.

I have flown Manchester ---> Auckland several times and have gone via Dubai via Emirates. The reason I want to go with air nz is that my dad flies regularly and so I should be able to get an upgrade.

I would be 16 then, so that would count me out of being a young flyer, right? As previously said, I have used emirate before and so I may consider ;)

Thank you all for the help.
