What a buzz! My favourite car manufacturer (my wife has an A4 Avant, my last car in the UK was an A6 Avant) and the motorcyle I've always wanted to own are now to be owned by the same company.

I wonder if my history of a proud Audi owner will get me a discount on a 900SS or SL??!?

It has been on the cards for a while. It is easy to assume some sort of brand convergence but bear in mind

1) Ducati has been owned by an Italian family owned investment company for ages, this is them selling
2) Audi is owned by VW who also owns about 6-8 other prestigious and stand alone car brands
3) It is (last I saw) only an 80%ish holding that is being sold
