The ongoing misadventures of the USA's let's-get-NZ-to-bend-over-backwards case against Kim DotCom etc.

Did we even check the fine-print, or did we just ask "how high?"

Now now, we proved we were independent from the USA when we told them no nuclear armed *or* powered ships here. Secure in our independence, we have no problem helping our dear friends capture dangerous terrorists like Kim Dotcom.

On a related note I also hereby officially submit that all anonymous mega-infringers be referred to as 'John Doecom's from now on.

My understanding is, if he was found guilty the NZ Government would gain his assets as there was no repatriation options, however, if he is not guilty, the NZ taxpayer would be up for damages (which could be huge).
Does anyone know any more about this, can confirm or deny?
