Looking at possibly taking a trip to Australia in Oct/Nov for a few days. Just been looking at flights and Virgin and Air NZ both list the same prices for ChCh to Hobart which is part of the trip.  Have flown AirNZ before, but never flown Virgin.

How does Virgin stack up against AirNZ, in service etc?

Also looking at then flying Hobart to Melbourne and after a few days, Melbourne to Perth.  If you have done that before, which is the better Australian Airline to take?

Thanks

Air NZ and Virgin codeshare, so you'll need to check what airline actually flys that sector.

There are no direct Christchurch to Hobart flights available (or from any NZ airport to Hobart to my knowledge) so if you book on the Air NZ website you'll notice a column the has 'number of flights' . Can be up to 3, the first being a domestic flight to Auckland. That shapes up to be a pretty long day when Christchurch direct to Hobart is nearly the shortest distance across the Tasman. The best you will do is Christchurch-Melbourne-Hobart and that is AirNZ to Melbourne then Virgin to Hobart, so you will get to experience both. From what I understand because it is treated as one booking (because of the tie up between AirNZ and Virgin) they should look after things if your flight is delayed out of Christchurch for some reason. Maybe someone from the industry can confirm this. If you book different carriers (i.e. no codeshare) and something goes awry, then you are on your own Jack!

Yep I know there are no direct flights ChCh to Hobart.  Quite happy to do up to 3 flights.

Tiger also fly Melbourne-Hobart and I believe it can be quite a bit cheaper, worth checking anyway.

I'm flying with Virgin this Wednesday to Sydney. Booked via the Air NZ Website, so is a codeshare flight operated by Virgin. I only booked it 2 days ago, when they had a special on, otherwise I probably would have booked Air NZ.

I've seen the TV show.  I personally wouldn't go anywhere near Tiger.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?
