What is the cable called (The official standardised name) for the power cable that shavers commonly use? You know the ones, they have a female 2 prong connection at the shaver end and usually ungrounded 2 prong connector at the AC end. Curly cable normally?

That connector if often referred to as a figure 8.

Ok. Thank you - It's weird, I thought I'd be able to find 100 retailers selling them, the ones with the curly cables, but I can't find one to shave my life (pun intended)

Well apparently it's not a figure eight connector.

You mean that sort of plug wont fit your shaver?
Thats was exactly the sort of plug I imagined that you would need when I read your post....

What sort of shaver - perhaps post a picture of the socket part on your shaver?

I am tempted to order off that site and then bend the connectors to the right shape.

It's a Braun 6515. One shop just quoted me $70 for the cable!

Doesn't that look like a standard 'home stereo' power type plug, albeit they normally have a more standard plug at the mains/wall socket?

I might even have one kicking around in a draw at home, pretty sure my old shaver cable looked like that...

langers: yah it's going to work out $45 with shipping to NZ. It's about $32 Shipped from NZ from one of the places here. I just have an issue spending $30+ on a cable of such simplicity, I'll have to bite the bullet most likely, unless XPD manages to find his and wants to part with it cheaply :)

Or here, this looks the same but they don't quote the model you specified

Website is a bit dodgy but worth a try

Slightly smaller but that seems the same as an old model Philips shaver I have.

ebay has every cable you can think of, usually far cheaper than anywhere else. The trick is finding out its name. Choose a Chinese or Hong Hong seller. Delivery is 7-21 days.

timmay: yup, I have been looking everywhere, the problem is I can't find the ISO name of the connector that goes into the shaver end.
