For those who don't want to use Spotify because of the whole Facebook integration, then check out Songza, you will need a service like unblock-us, VPN etc to be able to access it. But its 100% free and No Ads.
www.songza.com

You can sign up with Facebook if you like, but also just a username, email address and password is fine.

Songza is a bit different though, as it groups music by categories - e.g music for waking up, music for Friday evening etc. But just search a favourite artist and go from there.

It would be good to have some meaningful subjects. Just reading the topic subject here another user wouldn't know you are talking about an online music streaming service.

Folks, what about spending a couple more seconds and putting something that will actually attract the right audience?

That was answered in this TechCrunch interview.  Basically, the apps have display ads (AdMob or similar).  Also, they whitelabel the platform infrastructure to make Songza-like services for different groups (like EMI could do a service like it using their setup offering only EMI content).  Apparently, they are net-positive so not losing cash.  They also prevent you skipping more than a few songs in a row like Pandora does, so they can pay the lower streaming radio license rather than the more expensive digital download license like Spotify has to.
