On window of JB Hi-Fi, Wellington. Red piece of paper stuck over poster which obviously once read "CHEAPEST"...

That looks realy bad. I was in a lunch bar the other day that had nice printed tickets for the prices below the filled rolls. Somebody had crossed them out and written a new increased price next to them.

That's a shocker.
Oh well, I guess with 'cheap' prices they can't afford to employ a graphic artist to re-do their signage?

I think the comcom have had a bit of a crack down on that. You'll notice M10 Mega no longer use the "best range, lowest prices, end of story." Motto.

+1 - In Australia, JB's motto is 'Always Cheapest Prices', here they cannot use that (You will notice on their flyers it is 'Always Cheap Prices') because all it would take is for one of the others to beat them on any price and lay acomplaint with the ComCom.

As someone at work here just said - "Well it certainly looks cheap"

In that case, it not only looks cheap, it IS cheap.

I only noticed because I sat alongside it while eating something from the adjacent food court.

Exactly, you would think they could at least afford a new sign if it has been like that for a year.

I am glad there has been cracking down on the slogans of some of these companies.

And just to be pedantic, I believe it's poor English too.

It's not the price that's cheap or cheapest, it's the item or the product. The price should be advertised as being low or lowest.

A pedant should never start a sentence with 'And'.

forgetting the "lowest prices", "best range" is something easily disproven at M10 Mega.... you dont even have to be looking specifically to notice that bunnings has a much better range than them in general.

The few times I have been to a Bunnings, they do look really well stocked. I have shopped at M10 Mega a lot more than Bunnings, and can say that at both, I've always found what I went in for.

I miss them both - where I live we only have a Placemakers that looks half empty (mainly because it is a massive store, with a normal store's stock in it).

Fair callSmile.  That's why I don't have a job writing advertising signs.

Not impressed with JB from a pricing point - recent experience has soured the relationship
