Alienware wants to bring Euro 2012 Soccer fever to Melbourne by recreating the Quarter Finals at the Game Masters Expo.

Alienware and Geekzone are offering one lucky New Zealand reader the chance to travel to Melbourne with myself, to attend the Game Masters Expo.

The prize includes:
  • Return flights (27th - 28th June, ex AKL/CHC/WLG) to Melbourne
  • One nights’ accommodation in Melbourne (27th June)
  • Entry to Game Masters event and a behind the scenes guided tour
  • Transfers in Melbourne

Once in Melbourne we have the chance to compete in the 2 X 2 cup knockout event playing FIFA 2012. The winning team in that event receives two Alienware M14x laptops!

The Game Masters exhibition is a gaming event not to be missed! It features over 125 playable games from the past 30 years.

To enter to win this incredible trip, simply reply to this topic telling us why you think you can be New Zealand’s best FIFA 2012 gamer and help me win those laptops! You get an extra entry in the draw if you upload and post a screenshot of your best in-game moment (for any game).

The fine print: Competition is open to New Zealand residents only. Competition is open to Geekzone users registered before this topic went live. Users who were previously banned and found to be evading ban aren't entitled to participate. You must have a valid, current passport that allows you to travel to Australia on the posted dates. The prize does not include costs with new passport (if needed), or visa application (if needed). You must be 18 years or older to participate. The prize can not be exchanged by cash or other options. The prize is as listed, including the chance to play in the gaming competition during the Game Masters. Competition closes Thursday 21st June 4pm. Winner will be contacted and must reply by Friday 12pm so we can book tickets!

Is having a clue how to play the game a requirement?

Can you win at FIFA by accidentally controlling the wrong player and running off in the wrong direction, that's the only way I ever play football games :-)

I can crash games?

Here's the ball stuck on half-way in NBA Jam on my iPhone, players can't move, time doesn't tick down... Go figure.

Really I'm a racing game kinda guy, with my Laptop loaded with NFS The Run, NFS Hot Pursuit, NFS Shift 2, Dirt 3, Fuel. My iPhone 4s is similarly loaded with NFS Undercover, NFS Shift, NFS Hot Pursuit, GT Racing, Real Racing GTI, Drift Mania, Asphalt 6, Hard Racing, GTI Ed. 35, Uber Racer, Death Rally... the list goes on...

You want someone to play racing games, I'm your guy...

I'm pretty good at other EA games like Battlefield 3 - I'm sure I can kick a ball around a field :-)

I pretty much suck at all computer games, I'm even pretty crap at pacman.
Don't get me wrong I also suck at board games too.

But I'd love to go to Melbourne :-)

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

Love football games, still working my way through Fifa 11 but might upgrade soon.

I think my best memory of a Football game was Euro 2000 on the PSone, clocked up about 80 games hours on that :)

Last computer soccer game I played was sensible soccer, or (soccerish) speedball. Maybe I could beat them with grandpa simpson stories? When I was a kid, you'd trade your coins at the gaming arcade for tokens, fabulously shaped and engraved you could always tell an arcades popularity by how beaten and worn the tokens were and how often they'd jam in the machine and you'd be all "game over" before the fine gentleman running the establishment could safely leave his desk to free said tokens from the slot. It was more sporting to not continue a game for more than a single credit anyway. And see how much further you got next time. Green elf needs health badly they'd say.  ... and so on.

You should pick me because I'm in a gaming clan, and have lead a team that actually won prizes at a major gaming event. Also because I'm lucky at winning things when it comes to GeekZone Events.. I can be your good luck charm Mauricio ;-)

I used to kick butt at Microprose Soccer, those banana kicks were awesome, so I sure I could get the hang of Fifa.
Just need a copy of it. :D.
A trip to Melbourne would be great!

Going back even further...

He shoots... he scores! Sensaaaaaational! 4-0 with 26 seconds left!

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell
