Just found it on youtube, happened a few days ago in greece

Anyway, what do these kids need do they literally need a kick up the ass? That is where my thoughts lie. I am interested to see what the 'no smaking, talk about it, clouds are fluffly' type think a suitable punishment would be

I second that. The times I got one I know I deserved it and the times it wasn't deserved made me determined never to do the same to any kids I might have.
As it stands I've got 2 boys, believe in smacking as a punishment option but have never smacked either of them.

was just reading this , gives alot of detail. Nice to see donations have reached $500,000

also read this in the article..

At one point, a student taunts: "You don't have a family because they all killed themselves because they don't want to be near you."

The remark is especially cruel given that Klein's oldest son committed suicide 10 years ago.

that is sad..

Yes don't get me wrong, i think it is a wonderful thing but am somewhat interested in the process

Dare I say it, what they did was disgusting sure and I feel for the lady but In perspective the incident is not that bad, there are far worse things going on in the world. How does this differ from famine type ads on tv or any other video on youtube such as a kid getting beat up at school. I am sure there are many other vids on the internet which are equally as bad or worse. What makes a video become viral? Once again do not get me wrong i think it is wonderful people have donated.

After seeing this I wonder if there will be future fake attempts to scam by making a viral video and then asking for donations, because it is not that hard to make.

OK, I'm a non-parent but I think the 'just give them a smack approach' is a bit simplistic, don't you?

Sure these kids are extreme and action needs to be taken but does anybody really think that in this instance a smack would make any difference other than to allow us to pat ourselves on the back and say 'we did something'? A smack would just make them more bitter and probably mean the next attack wouldn't be filmed.

If we are going to leave people like this alive and free in society then we need them actually afraid of punishment, and a smack isn't going to do it. That would require the will to actually do something they would be scared of. Put it this way, does anybody know the names of the attackers? Where they live? Who their families are? What jobs their parents have? Where their younger siblings go to school? What their Facebook or Twitter accounts are? We would need to seriously get into their lives and make a credible threat.

If we are looking at punishment then that's a better track than smacking. In former communist countries lots of people were scared of authority; sometimes it worked out, sometimes not so much.

Or we could admit the problem is a bit more complicated than something a smack could solve.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

Totally agree, poor woman, but happens to regularly to a lot of people.

No where near as bad as that awful Kony 2012 video. Had ignored it completely up until a few weeks ago, saw about 30 seconds of it, and just though "narcissist" and turned it off.

Also, has anyone seen teh article about how charity muggers, or Chuggers, are all run through an Australian company, Cornucopia, who take 70-90% of all first year donations for "admin" purposes?

Basically the message from the Charities Commission(changing to DIA on the 1st July), if approached, don't donate to street collectors for:
- Red Cross 80%
- Fred Hollows
- Oxfam 90%

Best to try donate online, since you won't run into Cornucopia, and it's high fees

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

Those kids are the _result_ of lack of discipline, enforcing it now through means other than enforced military service would probably be too-little, too-late. If they'd been disciplined properly from day 1, they possibly would've been less offensive at this stage.

I'd not like to see parents be allowed to mete out severe beatings as in your case. Do you really mean you received hidings? Good that you have no ill feelings. Some might.

Nothing wrong with a smack on the bottom or hands though.

Sue Bradford has caused untold damage. However, I suspect, most parents will continue to smack their children, albeit in private.

It is too late for these kids, their behaviour is set , at least, until they mature.

Discipline must be instilled from an early age, while the brain is still developing.

You can probably tell how a kid will be like once they reach 5 years old.
