Has anyone tried some of the alternative RealD compatible glasses for 3D movies at the Cinema?

There seems to quite a range around now. Although fairly pricey from what I've seen.

I'm not sold on 3D movies, but wonder how big a part of that is the uncomfortable standard RealD glasses!

Avatar I found very involving in 3D. Prometheus had impressive 3D in places, but I wasn't nearly as involved - could just be the fairly average storyline... But I was easily distracted adjusting glasses and by the light coming in around the frames of the glasses... would comfortable wraparound glasses be more immersive..?

I've seen a couple of other 3D movies, and either the 3D was gimmicky or plain sucked. But where it's well conceived it'd be nice to get the best of it, comfortably!

Ah yes, seen the Oakley ones. Silly money indeed. Tried them..? Smile

"MicroVision Optical 3D" do a decent range at a much more sensible US$35 - but I'm still not going to waste US$35 if they are just 'vanity in the dark'...
