Folks, we are still testing (and things will be changing for the next couple of days) but I'd like to see you using, commenting and giving suggestions in our new Geekzone Shopping price comparison site.

Geekzone Shopping is a price comparison web site that will tell you the best prices around New Zealand for electronic products in general.

Geekzone Shopping is powered by PriceMe, a New Zealand company that provides online shopping information such as price and product comparison, reviews as well as other value added services to consumers. PriceMe empowers the consumer with the information needed to find the right product from a reliable retailer at the lowest price.

In our new site you will find price information for computers, digital cameras, hard drives and solid state drives, LCD, laptops, printers, electronics in general, eBook readers, GPS, smartphones and tablets.

Geekzone Shopping is free and ready right now for you. Feedback is welcome, and more features will be added in the near future.

I'm slightly confused by the order in which it sorts the results. It appears that the top result is often not the cheapest. Does it give top billing to some selected group of retailers?

If there is only one shop for a product, it shows a "Visit Shop" button instead of a "Compare Prices", but that doesn't tell me what the shop is without having to click through to the shop.

Thanks, but I think that needs a bit of fixing. I assume it is a "feature" that when I click on printers I end up in Entertainment and see Xboxes. ;-)

Looks great. Could you add that prices include GST on the web page? With computers many sites exclude GST. I am assuming that all prices shown include GST but it is good to get that confirmed visually.

Found the printers under "Computers" as a sub category. I assume the "Printers" main menu entry should read "Entertainment", eh?

Oh and there is another printer company which is ignored n the "Toners" category: Konica Minolta. Why?

Cheers

for a buyer is there something that makes this different from just using regular pricespy?

Thanks for the feedback folks.

Blakamin, links are working fine for me in different browsers.

Others: broken relationships, etc will be fixed in time. Keep the comments coming tough, as we need those to look at things!

We are planning to add a RSS feed from next week with new products added to those categories, a daily email blast with that same content from the RSS (like the other ones we have here), and a Twitter account to post the new prices.

PriceSpy is a Swedish company. PriceMe is a New Zealand company ;)

Using our site gives us a share of their revenue. It gives the buyer fuzzy warm feelings.

I like its simplicity but at the same time would like a few more sorting options like the size of HDDs/SSDs im looking at and maybe an instock only option.

Also, how often does it update from the seller? I just clicked a link for an SSD that said it was in stock but on the sellers website it is not.

At the end of the day I feel like I would rather use this site than pricespy, not only for the warm fuzzies but also since it doesnt feel cluttered.

Awesome stuff, thanks!

A few suggestions:

- Advanced search / filtering. For eg, if I'm in the SSD category, I should be able filter results according to capacity
- Retailer info: In the list view, is it possible to indicate whether the retailer allows pickups?

Cheers. :)

Advanced search and sort options are coming next week, and have this planned since before making it public.

I have sent this thread to the folks at PriceMe so we all know what people want from that.

Yes, like the main Geekzone site, the idea is to remove clutter and focus on technology stuff :)

The domain is running out of a different server (PriceMe) and there's no login integration - everyone gets the ads I'm afraid.
