My thoughts on this go way back to the first virus we received on our computers at work. I think it was also one on the first viruses out there. We were running DOS V3.3 or 5.0 at the time on a PC that I think cost around $10,000. One of our workers brought in a floppy disk with a game copied at Victoria Uni in Wellington.

After he had played the game we were infected with the Legalise Marijuana virus. I believe this was one of the first viruses and we were one on the first to get it. At the time we did not know how to get rid of it. Anti-virus software was unknown to us at the time. I think we tried reinitialising the C drive but it was still there as a number of our floppies had been infected. Now I'm showing my age. Malware has got a bit more sophisticated since those days.

Horror not my own but a locals laptop i fixed once that made me laugh out loud and want to throw the damn thing out the window at the same time. She complained that ever since her teenage nephews have been living with her the laptop has been running real slow. She dropped it off home and i went to work on it. The laptop took forever to login and Nortons last update was over a year ago, i managed to download and install malwarebyte i had it burned on dvd but there dvd drive was trashed so had to dl it of the net which was a mission and a half cause of all the viruses interfering, then ran a full scan. It found over 300 Trojans, & the documents folder was full of porn movies and what not. The IE browser had like a zillion addons to torrents sites. Took me all night to get it back to a clean state.
