I have a question.

How is it that the Crusaders, are 4th ranked with 61 points, and the Reds are third with 59 points?

GO the Crusaders!

Because of the way the conference system works. The winners of each conference take the top 3 spots, ordered by the overall points total, but regardless of where they lie in the overall points standing.

Then the 3 'wildcard' entries are the next 3 highest teams on the overall ladder. It ensures a team from each conference will always make it to the finals.

Go the CRUSADERS!!

...after all, the Aussie teams do need a bit of a hand - what with the NRL and that cross-country-basketball game they play over here Wink

Haha, I noticed that opinion article calling the Crusaders cheats. Noticed it was written by Mark Reason.

I guess it would be the same Mark Reason who was touted as "one of England's most experienced sports columnists" when he wrote an eerily similar article (just swap "Crusaders" for "All Blacks") some time ago:

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/our-experts/5535927/A-word-on-the-All-Blacks-play-Cheats

Back to the Super Rugby, the conference system certainly cushioned the Aussie teams from even greater embarrasment, not only guaranteeing one of them would be gifted a top 3 place but also they played more games against each other than against the tougher NZ and SA sides. In a straight round-robin, it would likely have been 3 teams each from NZ and SA in the top 6.

Yah yah like we don't see that come up every year, plenty of evidence of other teams doing similar things.

Crusaders played well on Saturday, Reds got spanked, though their one try was from a wildly forward pass! Sharks cheated at the breakdown the whole game, it was one of the most poorly reffed games I have seen in a while. Touch Judges were asleep!

If the Crusaders beat the Chiefs and Sharks beat the Stormers, is it a Crusaders home final?

Wow I was pretty disappointed by the way the Chiefs won. Particularly galling was the off ball nonsense. I guess at the end of the day the Crusaders are too gentlemanly (It's not often Ritchie gets truly riled). It was frustrating to see a try awarded that was another double movement (Yes I know the Crusaders have been awarded them as well but they are still wrong) and with 2 forward passes in that same lead up. At the end of the day the Crusaders made plenty of mistakes and that was a real shame, we shouldn't have been 3 points behind in the first place.

I have a little less respect for the Chiefs after that game, especially the big fat guy (Tamiafuna?) who was getting into it the whole first 20 minutes. I felt Chiefs should have been carded at least 3 times (Stamping??).

Anyways, quite unfortunate, but at least we have a NZ team in the final. I think the winner will be the team who didn't have to travel, the Sharks looked really good against the Stormers.

You my friend sound like a sore loser, and as for "the big fat guy" he has been a great find this season, he has already been in the all blacks training squad, dont be supprised to see him their again.
The Chiefs WERE the better team (and ALL the sporting media agrees(even ritchie tipped them to win before he knew they had a home final))

I have little respect for Jerry Collins who was a good relatively short lived All Black but basically a complete thug when he first came on the scene. The All Blacks helped him control himself. The fact the big fat guy wants to behave like a bouncer because he can't control his emotions at big events, is something that the All Blacks will likely have to teach him too. Scoring tries doesn't make you a good Rugby player. I know for a fact that Dave Rennie has given a speech to his team about behaviour unbecoming and a number of players were spoken to additionally about said behaviour!

There were 19 adults at my house Friday night. 11 Crusaders supporters and 8 HARDCORE Chiefs supporters and I can tell you categorically that every single one of us was disappointed by the Chiefs behaviour in the first 30 minutes of the game and I believe all of us called out forward pass and believed the Chiefs try which was awarded due to a double movement should have been called a different way.

The Chiefs threw the Crusaders off their game and the Crusaders were guilty of too many mistakes and failing to adapt with changing circumstances. We shouldn't have been in that position in the first place, like in 2007, however it all contributes to the final score.

Ritchie is NOT in any world going to suggest that a South African team will beat a NZ team, even if that NZ team was 14 players short of a starting 15!

I didn't claim that the Chiefs didn't play well, I just didn't like the way they started.

I of course, will be supporting the Chiefs in the Final, cheering as loudly as any lifetime Chiefs supporter.

I've been to half of the Chiefs home games this season and was at Waikato Stadium on Friday night, and will be again this Saturday night!

Hopefully the Sharks will be too buggered to compete this weekend. I would think they played their final against The Stormers.

Yah I think they will have a real road against the Chiefs with travel under their belt, but to be fair, if both teams played close to the Rugby they did this weekend, I would say the Sharks will win. Thankfully they might have some lag to contend with.

SA teams usually don't play well away from home, where as the NZ teams fare reasonably well in SA. I'm a a fan of the Sharks team ever since Waikato's Kevin Putt played for them in the mid 90s I think?

Bring it on. Just hope i can score tickets haha. Gonna be a mad rush.
