So I was thinking (yes, the does on occasion happen) that this forum has an amazing bunch of people, and I don't know enough about you.

I mean really, how much do we really know about eachother as a community? For those of you who've been around for a while, yeah sure, you probably know eachother's pet goat's name... but for the rest of us, well...

Please, if you would be so kind, tell me something about who you are? What do you do work-wise? What are your passions and hobbies (go nuts here, it's always good to know how nutty people are)? Do you have a family you're proud of (if you're not so proud of them that's ok, we all have our black sheep.)
Lastly tell us something hilarious about you, something you've said, done or whatever... just share it :)

I'll start.

Hello, my name is Zeb, you keeled my... oh wait, different story... ahem.

Hello my name is Zeb, as you may tell I am a fan of fantasy and sci-fi, I love reading, I love Japanese anime and manga and I'm a huge crafter. Cross stitch mainly, so far sucking eggs at knitting and crochet. I am owned by a ginger monster cat called Toby. I didn't name him btw, so his girly name ain't my fault. I like to grow things, but only cacti seem to survive and I also like shiny things, although unlike magpies jewellery isn't the only type of shiny that captures my eyes... think gadgets.

Career-wise. I studied genetical engineering at university. Dropped out and started working at the iHug helpdesk when I was told I knew my stuff and should apply. Since then I've self taught myself. Worked at various helpdesks, went to application/network support and eventually got into intranet development.

I now manage corporate intranets, from design, build, IA, content/publishing, governance and strategy. I'd like to think that a successful IT person is one who can bring both technical and BUSINESS skills to the table. I'm passionate about self learning and growing my knowledge in many areas (not only technical) and believe when I can afford a deposit on a house, atleast 3 rooms will be dedicated to my library :)

Something funny about me... I am a secret blond. I was at a park with friends once and started panicking cause I couldn't find my sun glasses (it's really REALLY hard to find the perfect pair of sunnies ok) ... my friends gave me the "Zeb don't be daft" look and said "Zeb, you're wearing em."

p.s. I LOVE TEA. Yes, I am addicted to tea. I will choose tea over coffee or booze any day :)

I'm J, and my first instinct is always to respond with a joke. Too much exposure to sitcoms as a child probably.

I worked with you.

Isnt that enough ? :D

Father, son, uncle, husband, friend, cousin, gamer, geek, enemy, god (to some I might be), you name it....

I enjoy fast cars (Nissan Skylines mainly), movies, good friends, fishing and gaming.

I also like getting out and about with a camera taking photos of anything that catches my eye.

I work for a education provider in Auckland, New Zealand as their ICT Service Desk Administrator, which basically means I run the service desk - answering support calls, fixing broken equipment, networking and more.

Have also worked for in the past : Georgie Pie, Sheraton Hotel, IHUG, Quicksilver, EDS, Easyware and for myself....

I currently hold the following certifications :

Comptia A+
Microsoft MCP
Microsoft MCDST

Currently studying for Cisco CCNA and upgrading my MCDST to whatever the Windows 7 version is :)

I run my own website (as linked), am a moderator on Geekzone.co.nz (duh) , as well as maintain a couple of other sites for friends.

I'm a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to technology, happy to give all IT related things a go.

I dont bite unless you bite first.

Something funny.... I once got called a man-whore by a friends friend.

sure i'll jump in

real name is John. 29 years old, father to a awesome 3 year old who loves Hulk and Batman (he knows most of the superheroes in the main JLA line up :))

computer programmer, studied BSc at university of auckland, work for MailMarshal.

use to write plugins for gb-pvr at university and wrote xmlTVNZ (which how most people know me).

enjoy "nerd gaming" i.e. board/card games for geeks. like playing xbox, read comic books, enjoy movies, gadgets/toys.

hate discussing politics or religion...

use to be anti apple, then became fan boy, now getting over it and switching to whatever is coolest ATM (was going for padfone, now maybe win 8 slate, which ever gets here first).

like to think I know a lot about the HTPC/media centre scene, and as soon as i can find a house to buy (house hunting sucks) going to geek it out with hung tvs, ethernet, ceiling speakers etc.

spend most of my free time these days playing with thomas trains... or "Hulk Smash" with my 3 year old.... hence the reason i haven't really released any side project in a while (developed a few, but havent found the time to release them....)

You are indeed a wise and good father, well done!

Comic book fan myself. Jeremy at Gotham Comics has a direct feed into my bank account. Are you mainly JLA?

my initials are JLA (didnt noticed the connection until i was 26 :)).

but yeah more DC fan than marvel.  batman, nightwing, oracle, jason todd, birds of prey (when gail simone was writing it) are a few of my favs.

im going to buy this for my sons room when i found a house

http://www.stargatecinema.com/Batman-XL-Wall-Mural-pr-90972.html

(or i may like it to much and put it in the lounge :))

but mostly been reading the walking dead, hack/slash these days.  sold my ipad a few months ago so reading has dropped to nearly nothing... waiting for a new tablet.  as mentioned padfone was the plan, but now with win 8 and their tablets coming out I'll probably get one of those, and write a CBR reader for it.

good thing about win 8 is its all .net, so can easily write a CBR app and connect it to skydrive/gdrive/dropbox for your comics and just stream them.  the ipad apps all had issues and this is something i would use, so should be able to actual release another pet project.  plus with win8 I can just connect a keyboard and develop from the device I want to read it on :)

I'm one of the oldies on here knocking at 59 but just as much a Geek as when I was 19 playing with Burroughs, IBM 1130 and PDP 11/23 machines. I love to support those new companies that are trying to establish themselves in the market to help give those big corps a run for their money! Love trying new technology as long as it's not too expensive!

I like to think I came up with the expression "it's on the ball" while pinching my thumb and index finger together which I used at primary school in the 60's when I approved of something. Mind you no ones probably heard that expression unless they went to my primary school.

First camera you ask - a box brownie - well actually the family's camera and I wasn't allowed to use it much as the film (I believe it was 8 shots) was so expensive to develop.

Nice idea :)

I'm Sam, 18, lived in Auckland all my life, love travelling which is good considering I drive from one end of Auckland and back each day to get to uni.

I study Architecture at Unitec, Mt Albert, Auckland, first year of a Bachelor of Architectural Studies degree, hoping to do my masters after this, but I'm more concerned about passing this year to be honest haha.

I love anything tech related, I love new things, new places, people and all that stuff.

Heavily involved in the gay night life here in Auckland, love going clubbing and drinking with my friends, and just having a good time on the town. Also like being involved in LGBT events and groups, do as much as I can for my community.

Still not sure where my life will go, hopefully find out sooner rather than later, but I want to work in architecture, move out, and if things go right, the guy who's special in my life right now, will remain that way for quite some time :)

Real name Nathan, 27 years young, director here at 3Bit which I started with two buddies from MIT (Manukau that is) when we were all only 20.  Oh the mistakes we've made up to this point!

We used to do servers, computers, laptops the lot.  Realised we were making no money.

Moved into VoIP which we did very well in, then sold off that division three years ago.  One of my business partners left around the same time leaving us as 3bit with only 2bits.

We then went back to our knitting (in my degree I majored in programming) and started hitting hard with custom software development.  Bought our .com from auction three years ago, partnered with Xero two years ago, and it's been onwards and upwards with clients here, Aussie, UK and USA.

Have a fair few well known brands on our books (major sponsors of Auckland Rescue Chopper), plus lots of smaller mum-n-dad businesses.  We own minority shareholdings in a couple of our more promising clients.

18 months ago bought a cafe in Mt Eden with my lovely better half Leslie who manages it full-time.  Good fun and my first dabble in hospo.

No kids or pets.  Life is already too hectic without any dependents :)
