Or at least that you can't reliably hypnotise someone into forgetting stuff they know or have seen.

Proof?

Well, if it was possible there would be a HUGE business around making people forget their favourite TV series so they could watch them again.

$100 to forget all of BSG, or Buffy, or SGA, or Dr Who, or Torchwood, or etc etc etc HELL YEAH!

Extend it to movies... Most movies aren't worth much, but to watch Fight Club again for the first time. Yep, I'd pay $25 for that.

Cheers - N :-)

Yep, shame that what's seen cannot be unseen. Not because I want to see it again, but exactly because I don't want even to remember I've seen it. Some stuff is really bad.

I've got Derren Brown's book, "Tricks of the Mind" and he goes into hypnotism quite a bit. It was one of the early things he did when he got into magic.

He's fairly convinced there's no strange "trance" state that people go into. Most of it is the human tendency to play along, especially in front of an audience. Much of that introduction stuff of "going under" is a load of hooey. He's put people under with no preparation at all other than they believed he could do it.

Every time I try to watch one of the Men In Black movies, I get to a certain point in them where I forget what I've just watched an have to rewind to the start...

I'd like to remove the first 3 chapters of 50 Shades of Grey from my data banks.

That was the most painful experience of my life ;_;

No worries, it's a fun angle to take.  As you say, half fun / half seriass.

I'd pay to get rid of "Titantic" from my memory banks.
Okay, so some of it was funny, but sometimes it almost appeared they were trying to be serious.

Why? It's even better the second time, picking up all the little things you missed ;-)
