Hello, We drive past this sort of electrical transformer at Westgate, Auckland in Waitakere and I keep on wondering what it is for? Yes, it must be to do with electricity and etc... but I mean, why did they take down the other "old" one and put in this more "advanced" transformer?
Anymore "technical" details would be appreciated!

It's a Tesla Coil. Look out or you'll get zapped.

Nah, obviously a communication tower to assist the navigation of an inbound alien fleet to ensure the successful invasion of Auckland.

I believe that is a cable head that connections the overhead transmission lines to underground cables.

Are you sure it's a transformer? Looks more like a pylon to me.

I guess they must have gotten sick of being told they didn't have enough Psi.

Fairly sure this is correct yes.  There used to be wires continueing after this point on the old tower and and now the wires get to this point and stop.

They do look way cooler than the old style tower things :)
