I don't think there is such a thing as a free advocate but its worth a try.

I just really don't feel comfortable going into a meeting without some sort of an official
that could possibly speak on my behalf while I am there.
I just have an issue with being confrontational as it is very hard for me to be and I believe I sometimes
back down when I shouldn't.

I should also note that I am a student so I am not loaded and unfortunately from what I can gather the Community Law Centre don't provide advocates. They had given me a number for an advocate but I don't think that number is correct as the phone line has been engaged all day

Is it work-related, or school-related?  If it's work-related, are you part of a union?

Work related.
Not in the union as I do not believe in them for various reasons.

I may or may not have a case depending on the last piece of the puzzle that I need; which is expected to arrive tomorrow (Tried going through correct channels to gain the information I need and failed. Ended up having to go straight to HR)
I'm still weary that what I'm receiving is not going to be all of it cause they seem reserved in giving me anything. It feels as if they want me to turn up to a meeting unprepared.

I have seen the CLC and I just need that last bit of info from what I was told and because I am expecting it tomorrow I have booked in to see the employment specialist at the CLC Wednesday. So I'm not after a full blown lawyer or solicitor.

Just someone that can make up the balls that I don't have so to speak haha

Also do I need to inform them that I am recording the phone conversations?

IANAL, but I fairly sure that under the crimes act.  only one party to the conversation has to consent to it being recorded.

BUT, under privacy legislation collecting personal information (such as a phone call) requires consent and divulging what other parties may say to a third parties without their permission would probably leave you open to possible action.

I heard somewhere (so may not be true) that you only have to let them know if you plan on using the audio in court, in saying that though I have seen cases where people have relied on audio files and they haven't let the person know about about the recording.

And saying that you need consent to share the audio with a third party would imply that people that upload "prank" phone calls up to youtube would need the consent of the business and/or person they called.
That's pretty vague.
Does it count as personal information if it is regards to my situation at work?
