I've recently acquired a small collection (200 or so) LPs, mostly 1960's onwards rock.

I've heard that there is still a market for LP's, as well as a couple of shops specialing in such, BUT what would be the best way to sell a small collection?

Presumably the retailers offer very low to buy, and putting each one on an auction site is time consuming, let alone arranging delivery?

What do folks reckon?

One trademe listing for one record, and list all the others in the same auction 'ask me and ill put up a listing for any of the following'.

Is wot I reckon.

Ive got about 1500 to sell for my father.....

Ive seen collections of around 1000 titles go on TradeMe for around $600 ($1 reserve auction) - it just depends what the titles are etc....

I tried selling some on their own on TM and had no interest at all, bulk lots (approx 40 random titles) seemed to go, but only for around $30.

Remember, Trademe buyers will need to know the condition of each piece of vinyl, whereas stores will be able to inspect them.

They are probably not worth that much to be honest. Especially without knowing the condition/pressing info etc. There might be some treasures amongst it but you'd be lucky to get more thaqn $100 I reckon.

Post a list (or sample) and someone might be keen. I could be, but I like pristine. :)

Thanks guys, yeah I realise that collectors will assess both the covers, sleeves, and record condition.

I might drop a list into GeekZone and see if anything rings someones' bell.

The question is how much do you want for them and where are you located? A collector will either want them cheap or want to come and inspect.

Give me a couple of days to assess each one (cover/sleeve/disk quality) and I'll PM anyone interested.

I'm in Wellington, btw.

Where are you based lokhor, Real Groovy is selling a lot of records at the moment. I think their goal is to get out of the record business going by prices, a shame as I enjoy Real Groovy.

I'm Wellington/Lower Hutt based so only really JB Hi Fi and RPM (Rough Peel Music) sell LPs here
